RE: Submarines, that is the problem

Minnie gets it.

Its not about barreling in with guns a blazing...

Its about being where they aint. Then finding the hole..and striking then.

Also....

Good things are coming soon to CMO...

RE: Recommended Changes to the Sonar Model

Good post. It's like I was time warped back into a classroom at Groton. Some subtle changes in CZ's may up the realism. Got people talking for sure.

RE: MAD detection of subs

Also the way "random" way ASW patrol boxes set up by ref points work now, i have noticed it may take a good amount of time for a MAD contact to happen, if ever. The sonobouys being dropped nail them before a MAD flyover would.

RE: MAD detection of subs

<r> <QUOTE><s>[quote]</s>I want to add that there is a game-mechanics caveat about this. <br/>
<br/>
Currently MAD detections seem to be be checked every 15 seconds. (Hover a helicopter near a sub you have detected by MAD only. I think you'll see the white contact age numbers counting up to 14 ...

And THAT should be the goal of any real life military/country.

To achieve objectives with the minimum loss of life and equipment.

RE: Make this game for accessible, redux

<t> Way back when i first played this sim, one of the main things that dropped my jaw to the desk was the database. It was like having 3 or more different volumes of Janes reference books in the sim. The complexity of the sim since then has gone up a few notches since then, but thats the way it ...

You would be surprised how much info is on Wikipedia.

Another great reason to have dual monitors! CMANO up on one and wiki on the other while you're scenario building saves time!

<t> Retired Sonar Tech here, and ill check on this.<br/>
<br/>
Set the DD on a northerly course at 5 knots (creep) it immediately detects a SSN at 4.9 miles or so. none of my sensors are active. I see there is no weather factoring into this, so this is a good pickup at range. ASROC Away!<br/>

RE: Late to the show - should I buy the base game boxed version?

<t> Steam version. Its simple to install, and updates itself. DLC's are installed when you buy them and you dont need to keep track of activation codes. You can add the third party DB picture and the community scenario pack with ease. I prefer it to the matrix version for those reasons, although i ...

RE: Always check old books stores!

A lot of those "large format books" go cheap used because they take up valuable space for the retailer. Hence why it is good to look on Amazon and check out the used copies before buying new.
