I often employ a strategy of attempting to capture Hive ships as soon as they appear and incorporating the carriers into my fleet while salvaging the lesser ships to boost my research. Like many of you, I also do the same to any ancient wrecks I find and repair, especially the capital ships.

I'm in the same boat, I ordered the CMBN Engine 3 BIG BUNDLE back in 2013 and was given an activation code, but no serial #. The only other info I have are the SKU codes.

When I conqueror capitals, the ambassadors become mine- I do have the "Characters at Conquered Colonies or Bases" policy set to Change Empire. Just checked a game to be sure I wasn't imagining it.

Great idea! However, manual way points would only increase the need for dramatic improvements to the AI's pathfinding to offset the implications of this feature. Manual way point plotting would give the player a massive & unfair advantage over the AI which already struggles to implement a coherent ...

Previously, I avoided pre-warp starts because of how slow it was to get through. Between my new computer and x8 speed however, I am enjoying watching the early game fly by.

Pathfinding seems improved but still needs work. I see too many ships/fleets taking unnecessary 'scenic' routes through surrounding systems just to enter & leave systems in nebulae & ion ...

Yes, 8x (or even 6x) would be great!

My default is to play at 4x speed and only slow things down when combat or odd events/interactions happen.

1x by default?!? To each his own, but ain't nobody got time for that!!!

So far, so good! The DLC is an excellent value. I love the Gizureans and Quameno and the addition of the Ancient Vaults. All the improvements and additional content really rounds the game out. DW2 has come a long way since launch.

It's great having the galaxy filled with 11 unique racial empires ...

Playing as Human empire. Researched Fuel Cell (v2) but traded for Mega-Density Fuel Cell tech. Only Fuel Cell (v2) is listed in Ship Design screen using 'Latest Per Category' display option. However, Mega-Density Cell is listed when sorting by 'All Components' or 'General'.

Based on your replies it appears the only course of action would be to set the captured station (or case-specific retrofitted 'minimal' station) to manual with zero maintenance levels and let private sector vessels remove those resources at will and per the demand of my empire's economy. I captured a few pirate space ports (in the hopes of getting their tech after retiring/scuttling) and received notifications of the resources stored in their cargo holds. I don't need the ports (or the expense of maintaining them) but want the resources.
