Yes in the first tutorial scenario I could not find the Germans for about 5 minutes - not knowing the map scrolled North - South as well as East - West!

Of Course if I read the manual myself....Say about Page 23...

Notepad is a simple text reader / editor that is present on all windows computers.
It is in essence A Super Lite MS Word.

Try Right clicking on the file that needs to be edited and click "Open With" and see if Notepad is in the list.
