Re: Shadow of the Tsars Suggested MP House-Rules and Maps

Why disband the tank? Is that for historical accuracy?

Re: A love letter to David (repost from general forums)

My condolences to you. Losing a father is a hard thing. You had a truly wonderful relationship with him, and that is something you will be able to carry with you always.

Re: Weather

Agreed - enhancing weather capabilities based on air warfare research level is a great idea! Perhaps one or two additional levels, at a reasonable cost.

Re: Thanks for fixing China in 1939

I also think that a serious UK NM penalty - on the order of 20-30% - should attend such a move. While the strategy may remain viable, the real world consequences of such an imprudent move should be reflected in the game. Perhaps coupled with a substantial but not crushing US mob penalty and a game m...

Re: End of the Japanese Empire, Dmitry (Allies) vs LoneRunner (Axis)

Thanks for the AAR LR, very interesting and well written. I wonder if your best move at this point might be to minimize US mob by avoiding aggressive JA moves like annexing Indochina? Also, building out JA's MB fleet would probably deliver good bang for the buck, keep the UK/US fleet away from China...

Purchased units delay

Since upgrading to v1.08, I have noticed that purchased units appear to arrive with a delay keyed to number of turns rather than number of months. FREX, during the 8/21/1915 turn I purchased a maritime bomber, which should take six turns (i.e., to mid-February 1916). Instead, the unit is slated to a...

I don't see why this would be considered cheating.

RE: Rail gun or nail gun?

Yes. Far as I can tell they aren't very good at attacking resources either. If the arty weapons upgrade improved their resource attack strength, and if they could be upgraded two levels, then perhaps they would be interesting but as it is . . . meh.

RE: Rail gun or nail gun?

Not really. They don’t de-entrench anything. And they are ineffective against resources. I see no use for them.

Rail gun or nail gun?

It appears that rail guns are only able to upgrade one level of art weapons, and that the only effect of that is to increase the demoralization hit from 5% to 10%. Is this WAD? If so, it does not seem that these units are worth buying or upgrading.

Belgian capital

Just a thought - seems that perhaps Liege should be an alternate Belgian capital. That way if the Entente invades Belgium, it may not be quite so easy for them to force a quick surrender.

RE: A suggestion

<t> Bill and OCB, <br/> <br/> Thanks for your responses. I think your observations track the historical reality pretty well for the period 1914 to early 1915. However, if the CP choose to cede the contested areas to Italy, then Italy's historical alignment with the CP would likely have been reassert...

A suggestion

While Italy is neutral - which may of course extend for the entire game - the Entente can spot CP units via Italian ports. Seems that they should not be able to do so.

<t> A few suggestions:<br/> <br/> 1. Impose a material but temporary readiness penalty on GE units if Belgium is DOWed prior to March 1940. This would reflect the fact that the GE war machine really couldn't have been ready to dive into another campaign immediately following the Polish campaign. Cou...

RE: Yet another balance thread (1.11)

<t> I agree with Lone's suggestion regarding resources east of Moscow. However, I also wonder what would happen were two skilled players to play it out to '47 where, by mid to late 1943, GE has beaten the USSR and the US has beaten or is well on the way to beating JA. Seems to me that under these co...

Will be interesting to see whether you will be able to withstand the RU juggernaut after it really gets going. I predict much pain for AH.
