Re: SC ww1 balance issue with CP's Serbian blitz strategy

Ok just for the first 2 turns:

You can move a corps in Przemyl, and you also still have the 3rd cavalary. The first turns you can hold Lemberg, Russia should actually pay a high price to get it.

Without the Flensburg corps you can still put 1-2 corps from the initial mobilization to the east ...

Icarus 7.0 PBEM with either side

I have created 2 open PBEMs to check/play Icarus 7.0 version.

Would prefer to play someone with some experience of the ICARUS mod, with the usual ICARUS house rules -
1. No selling tech in turn 1
2. No sending EU minor units to MeNa.

You seem to be trying to defend everything, that is not possible. You need to give up some things to save the rest.

Re: SC ww1 balance issue with CP's Serbian blitz strategy

Serbia badly needs some help/tweaking, maybe the Serbian corps can start out at full strength and this will delay a Blitz by Austria.

Austria can be helped/compensated for this Serbian enhancement by offering an extra detachment to start at partial strength on the Adriatic coast or Bukhowina ...

Re: SC ww1 balance issue with CP's Serbian blitz strategy

Your Serb start looks good, we should replay again, let me know if ok.
But probably Serbia needs some minor tweaking, the Uzice corps needs to be in full strength and the rear corps at half strength, this protects it but from being killed and thus protects the left flank.
The right flank can be ...

Re: SC ww1 balance issue with CP's Serbian blitz strategy

Hey Hannaj,
The corps i meant is in game and IRL, 1 Corps IRL meant 50k troops, 5 corps is ~250k troops, roughly the losses of Tannenberg + 1st Masurian for Russia and also roughly the losses for France in Battle of the Frontiers, in Addition the whole Belgian army, another 200k and about 50k Serbs ...

Re: SC ww1 balance issue with CP's Serbian blitz strategy

The chances of Belgrade falling in Turn one is more like 30% than 50%.
Also the Russians can open up Galicia if CP goes all out in Serbia.

French supplies + some units + Russian covoys + some suicidal Russian cavalry attacking along the Eastern front gaps will be sufficient counter.
Entente is ...

Re: Icarus Mod v6.6 - 1916 - Entente playtest AAR (vs mdsmall)

This is what ultimately weakens Germany in game far more than the blockade. Being shackled to a corpse.

Perhaps Germany should have thought about that before issuing a "blank cheque" in July 1914 in support of their ally!

Definetely.

There is an apocryphal story of the General staff ...

//The bizzare glitch of Austria-Hungary breaking up into five new states when its national morale was still 34% did not in fact change the equation very much.//

This is not a glitch, it is quite historical though it comes out as a glitch.

Hi, started checking the mod out, soooo here goes some random observations :P Although I'm not too experienced with WW1 title, but I came around to like it.

- Major power resources no longer have an intrinsic NM value, e.g. 12 points for towns or 25 points for cities. This means that Germany no ...

Re: Icarus Mod v6.6 - 1916 - Entente playtest AAR (vs mdsmall)

Having been on the other end of this scenario as a tester (as CP) and having lost, CP is terribly weak as compared to Base Game.

CP Ottomans are close to collapse (mostly historical, though Kut survival shouldn't be easy, perhaps Ottomans can start with the HQ here in Jan itself), to make the ...

Re: Giving up Austrian territory to Italy

I never saw anyone doing it and have done it myself only once long ago, so I am wondering if it can be a reasonable strategy against an experienced opponent. Has anyone ever tried it? What are your thoughts on it?

Don't do it, you lose a lot of NM, like a lot. ~20% of total NM park as Austria ...

Re: New Strategic Command WW1 Tournament

Hi everyone, i was or rather still am one of the many players.

I won my first round in Autumn 1916, my gallant opponent resigned. By then Paris, Verdun, Toul, Nancy, Belfort had fallen, French morale was around ~5%, Russia had undergone Revolution but was around 20-25%.
Italy and UK both around ~75 ...
