I'm likely frustrated because I'm not getting it. In the tutorial mission 'Advanced Movement' it works beautifully. Waypoint A is UNLOAD, Waypoint B is reverse with a SPLIT: APCs travel to Waypoint A, unload the troops, then reverse to Waypoint B now unattached from their troops. Perfect.
