Re: New Pacific War Bug Fixes / Enhancements

Hi, I take it that all this work is being done on the version 3.2.2 of PacWar - correct? I'll have to DL the most recent version of this and have a go at it. Thanks to everyone for keeping this classic going.

Re: Will it work on Win7/64 bit?

Hi, Many thanks to Ian, Rich Dionne for posting a good way to get these games to load in DOSbox. I had them running (WIR and PacWar), but they were slower than pond water in January. With rich's config, it runs fine. And thanks for Matrix for keeping these forums going all this time.

Now, I just ...

Where can I get the printed manule for SWIE

Hi, I'm looking for the printed bound manual that would fit the DVD case. My eyes are not what they used to be and it's difficult to look up an item in the manual while the game is up. I'll pay a reasonable amount. Thanks.

RE: Major Routine Convoy Issue - Oil Reserves Beware!

<t> Hi Rich,<br/>
<br/>
It's been a while since I worked through this; the allied RCS routine does use tankers to deliver fuel, but I guess the Japanese RCS routine does not. That's a big difference in the way both side's tankers are used. It's also wrong for the "requisitioned" but undeliverable ...

RE: Multi Dimensional Scenario Available, Would You Like To Try It?

OK, well the map goes straight across, so I'll just look at those islands in Japan and cruise the cursor due east and see where it hits the North America west coast.

I don't think this change was in effect in the Matrix v 2.2 and 2.3 editions.

Japanese Carrier Attack Aircraft Production 1942

<r> How many of you knew of this, especially you Zeke99???<br/>
<br/>
From Shattered Sword, p 89:<br/>
<br/>
"Japan would produce just 56 carrier attack aircraft in all of 1942 (Vals, Kates, and Judy & Jill prototypes), a pathetically low figure". <br/>

RE: Stuck TF

I checked the OBC41 file (with Rich Dionne's editor) and it looks like there is a Japanese army unit in Eastern US at the bottom of the LCU list!?! I'll check again and post the exact line # and unit info when i get back to the computer with the OB files.

RE: PacWar, Logistics and the real world

<t> Cerran, thanks. <br/>

I've been buried in this for the past 10 years, even while not deployed. It was meant to illustrate the significant role logistics planning and capabilities exert on operations. No fun at all from a gaming perspective though, and that's why it is so abstracted in ...

RE: PacWar, Logistics and the real world

<t> Hi Denniss, <br/>
<br/>
Somewhat abstracted. That would be an understatement. You might like to think that they are rotating, but it's not correct. In fact, there is something in the PacWar-Hint11.doc that specifically states that ships can be used more than once, due to the "time scale" Umm ...

RE: Every now and again I break this one out.

<t> Cerran, It should patch the EXE. I will have to dig out a hex editor or comparison tool - if I can find one - to verify. Otherwise, it's a cumbersome, but not impossible routine to start via a command prompt run noendwar and then pacwar in succession. <br/>
<br/>
Now if i can only get the ...

RE: Multi Dimensional Scenario Available, Would You Like To Try It?

<r> Thanks Brad, I'm not singling you out, because even the original versions had these ratings. It's just that it has vexed me for as long as it has been in existence, and you're right; "correcting" one thing can have strange 2nd and 3rd order effects on other things.<br/>
