RE: supply and oil rules

Rotor, you would probably like the WifCon gas rule then. It is one of the optionals that are floating around out there. Each has it's own strong points. I prefer the RAW Oil myself. Hopefully these different options will be playable in CWIF.

RE: Harry speaks!

The most important option used is the 2D10. You cannot play as the Russian side with the old time-tested strategies. The 2D10 is far bloodier and if you are caught out of position as the Russian, the German will be knocking at the Urals, and the oil in no time.

There is at least one that I know of. She attended WifCon this year.

Everyone is going to get RAW, Rules As Written. Everything else is optional, of which there are many. Set the game up any way you wish.

I think that people would be surprised at the number of fans of this game who don't play anymore for one reason, the SPACE it requires. Granted, there are many that don't have the time for gathering and playing and playing head-to-head, but it is to me, the best way to play this game ...

You are correct good sir! And to the person who didn't want to move their units from one side of the States to the other, there is always the strategic movement phase! [;)] Otherwise, it's a long walk!

Don't get me wrong. IF you wanted to do that you could. Would make for some quick turns for you while the AI or other players played the game.

RE: The Vladivostok gambit

<t> I do that as well, but with the increased size of China on the European scale, and with foul weather, supply will be the determining factor, IMHO. The Chinese have to play with Supply and weather in mind. If they do that, things can be made very difficult for the Japanese. All the talk about ...

RE: Ability to play as ANY major power SEPARATELY...

MZLIN is correct. Russia and the US need something to do until 1941, so they get the French and Chinese. Of course, you could always have someone else play them individually. Would be pretty boring, but they could play.[>:]

RE: PBEM solution for WIF

The problem arises when there are multiple options for the non-phasing player. Deciding which ships, planes, etc. to sortie for EACH interception. Letting the AI decide would not be high on my list, as each decision will impact every other decision for the rest of that turn.

RE: The Vladivostok gambit

All well and good, but supply is a real bear! Don't let your HQ's stray far from a rail line or it is a very good way to lose complete armies in short order.

I'm not sure the website will be updated much. Are you still on the WIFdiscussion list? Russ Craft, and others, usually post daily updates there. Too bad no one could attend for at least a day of observation! Would have been HIGHLY beneficial!
Peace!

Good luck with PBEM though! You may be able to come up with something, but my opinion is that head to head will be the BEST way to go i.e. network play. The constant interaction between opposing ...

RE: Fundamental Question for PBEM play of WiF

I'm sorry, but I choose C. WIF does not lend itself well to a PBEM game. There is WAY too much interactivity between opposing sides for this to be a desirable way to play this wonderful game IMHO.

I agree, the same follows with the aircraft. I lost a bunch of both at Singapore.
