Matrix Games Marches to World Boardgaming Championships 2005!

Post by Alex Fiedler »

Previews, Demos, Full Line of Games... Be There!

Matrix Games will be present at the World Boardgaming Championships 2005 (http://www.boardgamers.org/#wbc) this year in Lancaster, Pennsylvania from August 3rd through August 7th. We will be attending both as gamers and as vendors. If you want to play against us, show up early and seek us out. As the convention progresses, we will have a demo and sales area to show off our games. An amazing line-up of new games, demos and previews will be available for gamers to enjoy.

If you’re going to be there, you won’t want to miss us! We’re looking forward to meeting you, hearing your suggestions, discussing great moments in gaming and showing you what we have in the works for the rest of 2005! Of course, we will also have our full line of games in stock at our booth, including just released titles and will be happy to help you complete your collection.

Attending as a special guest this year will be Mark H. Walker, author and designer of the Lock ‘n Load series, including the highly anticipated Lock ‘n Load: Band of Heroes (www.locknloadgame.com). On hand from Matrix Games will be the Matrix Games staff to discuss any and all of our projects and answer your questions, including David Heath, Joe Lieberman, Daniel Heath, Ron Duquesnal and Mike Vahan.

We hope you will stop by if you are attending the World Boardgaming Championships 2005 or ask one of your friends who is to drop in and see what we have to show. It’s a great opportunity to meet us in person and see what Matrix Games is working on and what we have in store.

A preview of, the soon to be released, Combined Arms would be good to see.

There is a discussion on another forum regarding the current popularity of boardgaming.....my premis is that if the hobby is currenty populated by the 40+ crowd, since they suckled on AH and SPI's teat, there will be a demise of boardgaming as we know it in 30 years or so....I really would like to know how many teenagers and 20 something boardgamers show up at this Championship....Hopefully someone who attended can provide an observation of the age demographic of the attendees.....

There will always be a place for standing around a table and socialising with other people.

The problems with table top games are:

The set up Interpreting the rules You cannot save an incomplete game The dog and other players knock pieces over

The solution is to have a computer screen the size of a table lying flat on top of the table.

And the pieces are holograms. And the computer will not permit you to play an illegal turn.

You are right ,for there is always a place for Monopoly, Life, Risk, and Clue to help promote social gatherings, but I cannot envision a Wacht Am Rhein family night....[:D]
