Is there a space game.....

where I can go down into the atmosphere of the planet, land on the planet and explore on the planet? Not starcraft or starflight. I'm talking like 1st person on the planet and it turns into sort of a shooter only a simple one. I want to explore them like starcraft and starflight and find resources and weird animals to capture or eliminate if they are too hostile.

Anything like that out there?

Frontier Elite II says one day you will be able to, just atm not on all planets, but maybe soon or one day, i agree it would be a nice options, but adds to the scale and overall game size

The game that will be more close with your description is No Man's Sly. It should be released on 2016.

Evochron Mercenary has everything you want except weird animals capturing. You can descend from space into a planet's atmospere, land on the planet's surface and explore the land and ocean in a terran walker (mech warrior with particle cannon).

Its described as "rogue like" but you might want to check out Approaching Infinity @ Shrapnel games. Looks like a turn based game where you ship out w a crew and explore the universe, land away teams on planets, explore stuff etc etc.

Parkan 2 by a Russian dev Nikita over on Steam is what your looking for i dare say, pretty much all you specified bar maybe the animals bit.
There is another one also though the running around the planet part is in third person. I can't remember the name of it though but from what i can remember its another Russian dev and it does have "space" in its name so you will have to have a search through Steam yourself if you want it that bad lol

That's it that's what I want. Thanks Paulus I didn't know a game or games like that existed. Can't wait for release. Hope it is as good as the trailer and demo I watched.
