The software will be available from may 7th, 2003. The game will be available online after a credit card purchase. The price will be $27.50, with North Carolina Residents paying an extra 6.5% in sales tax.
See
http://killerbeesoftware.com
The graphics prepared by Wydraz are very nice and will probably be the default graphics.

The game looks like an improved Global Domination to me.
That was a compliment eh
I think I have only played Steel Panthers more than I have played Global Domination.
Straight forward simple fun.
Lame graphics, lame sounds, but sheer fun.
Probably the only old computer wargame I can say I still like.

I asked the guy bout the credit card purchase because I don`t have a credit card. There will be other means of payment as well, they aare just a bit slower.

Both Global Domination and the Civilisation games use the combat-model from Empire, that`s why this looks familiar.

Ok played the demo, Global Domination it isn't.
27 bucks? Nope most assuredly not, sorry but 27 bucks will buy a lot of things.
I think I would much rather it was spent on a game worth 27 bucks to tell the truth.
As it goes, I would pass on the full game even if free from Hotu.
But in all honesty, it might be a fun diversion online. I just can't picture spending 27 bucks for a game no better than its equal that can be had for free.

Les,
the demo is limited in fact. All the modifications of the new version can be seen on the site of Killerbeesoftware.
That said, I perfectly understand your point of view, but I think that the new version is one step further than the old one.
Cheers,
Daniel.

I might keep tabs on it then.
Short of someone doing a real world global game worth buying, this might be the only program up for offer eh.
I would rate this game higher than HoI at any rate.

Here is the message I've received from Mark:
Killer Bee Software is happy to announce that Empire Deluxe Internet Edition has officially “Gone Gold” and is being sent to the online distributor May 2nd.
The game will be available for credit card purchase and immediate download from
http://killerbeesoftware.com starting May 7th for $27.50.
Those fans without a credit card will need to order by regular mail. This being a slower process, you can go ahead and get a jump-start by reading the information about postal delivery at
http://killerbeesoftware.com/orders and sending a cashier’s check or money order in the mail now.
Note, there is no physical delivery of the software (ie no CD). It can only be downloaded over the Internet at this time.
If you have not checked out the demo yet, you should grab it at
http://killerbeesoftware.com/kbsgames/demos
Get plenty of sleep this weekend. There are some late nights coming your way!

I wish Killerbee success of course, the game world can use a decent grand strategy game.
There is certainly room for them.

Could someone give an explanation of the game. I'm looking for an easy game to try to get my busy brother initiated into email play. (I don't want to overwhelm him with SPWAW just yet.

)
I'm waiting for The Perfect General (I loved that game back in the day), but is Empire Delux a good one to try out?
Thanks
Bob

Bob,
Empire Deluxe is an excellent game! The units are basic: infantry, tanks, fighters, bombers, some naval units and that's all.
If you wish to give it a try, you can download the demo available on the site of Killerbee (but the demo is just basic...). You can also download for free the old version of the game on
http://www.theunderdogs.com
Empire can be very addictive and is a perfect game for PBEM.
Greetings,
Daniel.
