I remember wishing I could get it.

But having seen Panzer General and it's lineage, Perfect General would have trouble interesting me for free.

It would have to be a massive upgrade to be worth it I would think.

Perfect General is to checkers, like SPWAW is to chess.

Both are great games. I can't wait to get it.

If you want realism, Perfect General isn't for you, but for shear fun, it's great for that. It had a lot of replayability, IMHO.

I remember this game in the early 90s. Its not on my computer, but I still have it! I remember at the time it was the best computer wargame out there. But times have changed, and now it is like a WWI tank compared to an M1A2!

I spent many hours playing PG via modem with friends, it was a lot of fun when it came out. Don't think I could go back to it now though :-)
