Any of you guys played recently or planning for Pacific War type of board games in World War II?
I have been messing with the old WitP (pc version) and cannot get where i trying to improve, etc. So decided to go ahead and work with the board game. Since you can set it up at your own pace.

I have Pacific War: The Struggle Against Japan 1941-1945 by VG and East Wind Rain: The War in the Pacific 1941-1945 by 3W. They sit in the closet getting dusty. Not opened them in over ten years.

Ah what a waste, pretty much the same here too. The most expensive one is WitP 2nd Edition by DG, think i gave 250 USD on ebay back then and pretty much brand new. Plus both Mark Herman and few others are something else to bring interesting to the table, such as Advance Squad Leader, etc.
I wanted to get into tactical instead of rules they have in the game. Like ship engagement, showing direction, speed, damage, etc. Same for ground and the air combat rules.
I think i post something like that couple years ago, never finish it. Since i cannot find what i am looking for, may well go ahead do it anyway. Later on once i get my things together, you will be able to order these so call tactical module kits to bring your gaming more interesting. These tactical module kits can be optional for those want more in close combat details.
So i wasnt sure if anyone out there would be interesting.

I have Pacific War, the GMT reprint, not playing the campaign since this is too long but the scenario. I have also Oceans of fire. At strategic level, I would have recommended also to look at Empire of the Sun even if I don’t have it.
For what you are requested, at a more tactical level, please have a look at Carrier Battle: Philippine Sea from Compass Games.

Rising Sun these may interest you; they are mostly print and play but Battleship Zenith and Dreadnought Rising, I believe, have a small pc program to assist with calculations. Very detailed.
'No safe port' and 'Steel and Resolve' are designed with less detailed to enable larger engagements.
As you might expect the WW2 games cover the Pacific and Europe... the WW1 do not have Japan; only cover European countries.
