Multiple Games Hang on Startup

Hi there. I've picked up a few Matrix games over the years, but now I'm having a problem getting any of them to work. Whenever I launch any of them, they freeze up on the first logo screen. The screen is black, but I can still hear the sound effects the video would otherwise make. I think it's the logo for Matrix. Is there a way to bypass that or get it working?

I'm on Win7 64bit. I've got everything updated, and I've tried them in different compatibility modes and with administrator on and off.

edit: I guess I should add that this happens with Uncommon Valor and Forge of Freedom specifically. I can try more but from what I remember they all show that intro video clip.

Could try to install the latest DirectX 9c.

This sounds like an issue with not having the right video codecs and/or not having DirectX 9. Can you skip the videos and get to the game (try the Escape key and clicking)?

K-lite codec pack works great with Win 7 64 bit. I've been using it for years with all OS.

I can't skip the videos, the only input I have after that is to shut it down with task manager. I installed K-lite, and one game gave me the message it was missing "vids:iv50 decompressor." I remembered that from xp, so I tried xp compatibility again, and that worked for most of them. Right now Uncommon Valor seems to be the only problem, and it's still freezing up on that first video, with all the ones and zeros. But I can't see that, it's just a black screen and the sound effects.
