Post by Devimi »

I am play tutorial 2 and i'm doing it all like in manual (i think) but after i click start all of my recon units orders got deleted and change to "hold in hex XXXX from around 06:00".
Screens show before and after click START.
Edit. Other units orders are good, only recon units orders get delete.

I confirmed issue. I JIRA'ed this at FPSS-4775.

Thanks for the saved game. It makes the developers job easier.

I was't sure if I should make next topic or write here but there is another problem, 2 units don't shoot when they fire discipline is set to "maximum range", but they start shoot if i change fire discipline to "medium range", I didn't do anything else, just changed their fire discipline from MAXIMUM to MEDIUM range and then they start shooting. There was't any other enemy to shoot at maximum range. Do I understable good, that if I have fire discipline set on maximum range units should shoot on enemy on short, medium and maximum range, or just maximum?

I would hazard a guess that they started shooting not because you changed the range setting, but rather because the enemy moved enough for them to have a clear shot. We don't have a way in game at the moment to differentiate between a target being identifiable and having a clear shot against the target. This can result in situations where it appears your troops should be engaging, but they aren't because the randomness has determined that while you know the enemy is there, you don't at this second have line of sight to take a shot.

There definitely appears to be a bug here. I checked your saved game and at Maximum setting the spottable range is 1100m. At Medium range it is 3750m. I have Jira'ed this for the developers to see @ FPSS-4802.

Thanks for reporting this one, with a save game and clear steps to reproduce - we needed those, as it was a tricky problem deep down in the combat logic.

You are right about the fire discipline set on maximum should allow the unit to engage at any range, from short to maximum.

What's going wrong (bug) is that with "fire discipline: maximum range", the scout unit's Bradley can engage with both the 25mm auto cannon and the 7.62mm MG (vehicle support weapon). Against soft targets, it chooses the MG, not the auto cannon, evaluates the potential of achieving kills, which isn't great and decides not to engage.
At "fire discipline: medium range", the soft target is outside (medium) range for the 7.62mm, so the 25mm auto cannon is the only weapon viable, is seen as achieving kills, and the unit engages.
We are fixing the selection mechanism to prevent the vehicle support weapon being chosen over the auto cannon in these cases.

I don't think there is a problem with the spottable range. The spottable range changes if the unit changes stance and/or opens fire.
