Couple of questions

Two quick questions.

Battle Planner.

I want a whole battalion to follow the same route and do the same things, but I want the companies to arrive on the map at different times. IE, I want A Coy and Bn HQ to start on the map, B Coy to arrive on map 20 minutes later but follow the same missions, and C Coy to arrive on map even later and do the same thing. In the battle planer can I give the battalion sized force its various missions in the sequential mission list and then set each Coy to either start on the map, or arrive on the map at different times?

SOP Manager

In the SOP manager Movement Preferences. What happens when you select both Concealment and Roads? Is it okay to do this or will it cause problems? I ask because I had two units in a scenario I made that would not cross a bridge over a major river. I ended up swimming them across downstream from the bridge. Later because of something I read in the forums I went back, changed the SOP from Concealment and Roads to just Roads and they crossed the bridge with no issues.

I was selecting both preferences, thinking that I wanted them to stay as concealed as possible while still using roads where they could. Perhaps, not a good idea but if you could confirm that would be great.

You can combine both; the path prefers concealed roads (i.e. through forests, through urban terrain) over open roads, concealed terrain over open terrain, and makes a trade-off when faced with roads versus concealed terrain. You also can combine it with the Avoid NBC preference.
Bridges typically involve open terrain, which may cause a struggle. In that case, tweak the preference by waypoint or move the waypoint to get what you need.
If you have a screen shot, that would help us.
(Also make sure to be on the latest beta, as it addresses an earlier problem with crossing water obstacles).

Organize the companies as different task forces, so you can assign different missions to each of the companies / task forces.
You can then either use a reinforcement mechanism or a 'dummy' initial screen mission with a specific duration to delay the movement of the company. That movement would be a using a move mission.

Thanks for the reply.
I will put in 4 screenshots showing the units in question. Two screenshots show the units trying to cross the bridge, then the third screenshot shows the units moving away from the bridge to swim across and the last shows the two units across after the swim. Unfortunately, I don’t have a save file anymore.
When I changed the SOP to just roads and drove them across the bridge, I used an earlier save file. It worked but I don’t have a screenshot of that or the save file anymore.
Hope the screenshots help.

Do those two units start on the bridge for the movement order?

No, they started south of the river.

Thanks for the info. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't an issue with the order starting on the bridge.

Echo9c, thanks for providing the screen shots.

What you are experiencing is a bug related to movement across a double bridge. This was fixed recently, should be in the next beta and game update.

Organize the companies as different task forces, so you can assign different missions to each of the companies / task forces.
I have a question about this. If you take a Battalion Task Force and make each company a separate force in order to give them each different battle plans, will they still be subordinate to the Bn TF HQ and will that HQ still command them?

Fred,

Yes, they will. Subordination follows the OOB tree and the force packages used by Battle Plans do not break that command structure.
