Is there a way to get rid of them?
Thanks.

Hi stormbringer
I assume you mean mines already placed in a scenario.
At the moment no. I have thought about this myself. I was thinking that they could be destroyed by artillery, if available in the scenario.
What are your thoughts?

Thanks for your reply. The scenario that prompted my question was Pavlovs House in the Stalingrad DLC. The Axis had two Assault Engineers. Perhaps if an Assault Engineer moved into the mine hex it would destroy the mines. IMO any scenario that has mines should also have Engineers. As far as artillery goes, that would be my 2nd choice after Engineers but ok if Engineers aren't possible.

I think there is a couple of option for the removal of mines. Based on the following WW2 tactical war games:
Advanced Squad Leader (ASL, a board war game, you may say the king of all tactical war games), in this game an infantry can attempt to clear minefields at the end of the turn. There are various die roll modifiers (DRM) that can lead to success. You have to roll <= 2 with two dice for a success and a 12 results in casualty reduction (reduced from a full squad to a 1/2 squad or if 1/2 then eliminated. Some of the various DRM are Labor status, Leadership modifiers, > one squad, Environmental Conditions, Heroes, Sappers (engineers), and Dozers. Also, artillery fire for effect (FFE) can remove mines (or wire) if an original KIA is obtained.
Steel Panthers (SP, a computer war game, in this case the only still in "development" version I'll use is Shrapnel's version for SPWW2 and SPMBT), much like ASL all infantry can clear mines if in the hex with mines, Engineers or Pioneers have a greater success rate and also don't have to be in the mine field hex just adjacent to the mine hex (and be facing it, in this game every unit has a facing).

It would also be nice to have either AT or AP mines.

Yes, Steel Panthers should be used as a model for things like Mines, FOW, and LOS rules, they've had 12 years to fine tune this and are a perfect combination of realism and playability.
