strange install problem

Hi,

I went to updgrade Campaign Vietnam .. uninstalled the old version and went to install the remastered version ... executed the install "exe" as the administrator .. after a short period of time (of the few times I tried, it happens at different times) the install program just exits .. no error message ..

disabled anti-virus .. same result ... ran a program to clean the registry ... same result ..

have windows 11 pro ... and its up to date.

experimented with other matrix installs ... strategic command civil war installs fine, as does shadow war,

however, when I tried war in the east 2 ... same problem ... the install after a period of time just exits ..
and when I tried Advanced Tactics Gold .. same problem (since there is a steam key, I tried that and the Steam install worked fine).

looking for any advice on what to try ...

Try reinstalling the original version (in the link above) and then let the remaster uninstall it.

Let me know if it works?

Don't forget to unzip the file.

the link you provided is to an update, .. would not run without Campaign Vietnam being installed.

I found the original setup file "CampaignSeriesVietnam-SetupRelease-v1.00.00" on a backup, when I ran it, the same problem, the install program just exits after a short amount of time. Some files are put in the Campaign Series Vietnam folder, but it Campaign Vietnam is not shown as an installed app under window 11 settings.

Hmm, that's definitely an oddity.

Do you have another system to try the games on?

At this point, I'd probably try to contact the tech support email at support@matrixgames.com as they would be happy to go over the installation with you.

I tried it on a laptop I have ... worked fine.

We are having issues with some gmail addresses, so I'm replying here.

It sounds like a third party app, like a security one, is interfering with the installer file.

Try the following:
1. Press Windows Key+R to open the Run window.
2. In the text box, write msconfig and press Enter or OK and the MsConfig window will open.
3. Select the Boot tab.
4. Select the Safe Boot option,
5. Click on "Aplly" and then "OK".
6. Click on "Restart".

Restart Windows, install the game and check if the issue persists.

After having installed the game, restart Windows normally.
