Here is what I mean. I like to know who shot what, with what, damaged what, and what happened. That's cool. But obviously you cannot afford to play the game like that unless you start the Grand Campaign in your 20s.

Might it be an option to get that in the F11 - Battle Filter.

So, when you click on an icon, you have a 3 level drop down:

Level 1: Who won; what we have now.

Level 2: Summary of the numbers; what we have now.

Level 3: Message log (scrolling) filterable at details 3-7.

---

That would be very useful for better understanding of the game. I realize that logging all that data could slow the game down and eat disk on the the auto saves. So, maybe make Level 3 a user configuration option.

You have such wonderful information and flavor. But at the moment, it is effectively lost, since it's not readily available.

Just a thought.

Thanks!

Do you mean you want to know all of the details of every battle?

Every bit of information detaining to what I think you are describing, is there to find right now, unless I am massively misunderstanding your question?

In the commanders report, you can filter battles to see whatever kind of result you want, retreat, held, rout, surrender, etc etc
Then you can further filter to see which battles had the most/least in AFV's, men, guns, planes, for either the attacker or defender
You then click on said battle in the commanders report, to be taken directly to the battle on screen
Then you can look at the combat details, to see every single disrupted, damaged and destroyed element

Half of learning this game is understanding it's UI, when it comes to UI, the commanders report is usually your best bet, to filter out the white noise and find what you are looking for

I think he means the slow replay, where your pilot doesn't take off as he's not had his coffee and your infantry element doesn't attack due to a problem with their shoelaces etc.

I agree there is a lot in the battle report and with experience you work out what happened but its not a cross tab that allows you to track which weapon system damaged which element.

I don't think that is saved anywhere, judging by the bug reporting routines there is always a need for a convenient save so the actual combat can be rerun.

It would be cool, if we could get more out of the battle report screen in this regard (see this suggestion feature here: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4994115)

Yes, I mean what comes up in detailed messages. I think sometimes, it might be useful to know what was killed by what and why, etc...

As to your point, the messages are side agnostic ... this is a problem, because even if you have memorized everyone's equipment ... there was a great deal of captured equipment being used by both sides.

It would be nice to have your side say in green and the OPFOR in red; like is done with ground support encounters now.
