Airbase Capacity: available and (max)?

Post by Uhtred »

Where does the "max" number come from?

Let's use Tilsit as an example. It's a size one airfield so the capacity is 100. That's clear. On turn one, it has a total of 18 twin engine aircraft based at the field. Those twin engines count for double capacity, so they take up a total of 36. Thus the available capacity at the airfield is 64. That's also clear.

So where does this max number of 60 come from? What does it relate to?

Available and max is a result of the stationed AGs "max in the '()' '" planes and the status of their planes + reserve planes and so on.
To give you a simple example:

To sum up i guess one could say that:

available = currently available places

Code: Select all

available=(100*Airfieldlevel)-Planesize*(Ready+Damaged+Reserve)
max = places if/after all currently on the airfield deployed AGs are 100% filled (so, not 99% and NOT 101%+!!!)

Code: Select all

max=(100*Airfieldlevel)-Planesize*(Grptypemax)

....therefore the max number will usually be a "round number" simply multiplying Grp type (max) with the Plane-size-multiplier and the available number will alter depending on the READY+DAMAGED+RESERVE count, which added up may exceed or be less than the "Grp type max" amount and therefore causing sometimes available>max and sometimes available<max.

It's caused by the "Grp type max" multiplied with the "Plane-size-muliplier", added up for all AGs on the airfield.

Ahhh. And suddenly the light goes on. :D

Thank you Wiedrock for taking the time to explain this and even provide screenshots and examples. It's such an incredibly small thing (and probably obvious to many people), but it was driving me nuts.
