Sudden Death VC - Fake or Real

Does this drive historical outcomes at the expense of sophisticated game play? A map showing just how much or how little a Soviet player who kept Leningrad and Moscow would need to lose in the south ( to trigger SD) would be helpful.

What the Sudden Death victory conditions do is to drive the Axis player to extend themselves as was historically done. However the Axis player has many different paths to do this - some more risky than others. The major factor is that the Axis player HAS to cross the Dnepr River in force and continue eastwards in order to get the VPs. It is also possible to gain an Axis Sudden Victory without taking Leningrad or Moscow - although it is difficult to do.
