A few specific questions

Post by shgenerolas »

Hi. A few specific questions arose while lerning how to play the game. I would be grateful if someone could help me understand the answers!

1) If the division is in refit mode, are the support units assigned to that division also refiting?

2) Do the units of other Axis countries (Italy, Romania, Hungary) upgrade their equipment from the same pool as the Germans? If I keep an Italian howitzer battalion and a German howitzer battalion in reserve, will they be equipped from the same pool, or there are separate pools for the Italians, Hungarians and so on?

3) If the CR indicates that the Air Group has planes in reserve, does this mean that after setting PRI* or TP* the Air Group will be supplemented with new ready planes?

4) Speaking about smaller scenarios: if you capture a city where resources are produced, will those resources be used for units in that scenario? Is it worth in the smaller scenario to restore the damaged resource production?

5) If a rail line in one hex was cut by an enemy (but the enemy unit retreated), does that mean that the freight no longer flowing after damage hex?

6) If there is freight in the depot, but the railway line leading to it is not connected to the railway network, can the division refit on such a depot?

7) If you look at the casualties table at the beginning of the turn, you will usually see thousands of troops and equipment being lost during the logistics phase. What do these losses mean if nothing was transferred or disband?

Thanks!

2) separate pools.
4) ressources do not rly matter. important is the weekly production of equipment, manpower and the freight in your depots.
7) several things.
There is frontline attrition and other types of attrition/accidents/training.
Damaged AFVs (as an example) which were damaged by whatever circumstance, which are in your Divisions are not all reaching the Repair pool (Transit Pool). Some are written off which should be shown in thos numbers.
And diabled men getting healed (so sometimes the lost men may be a negative number for the turn).

1) I don't think so, but not 100% sure.
3) I don't think the replacement settings guarantee that, if you're able to get the pilots needed, the planes will come out of reserve or that you'll get new planes. However, I'd expect the planes in reserve to come out of reserve first before you'd be sent new planes for the new pilots.
5) The enemy having been in the hex, damaged the rail. Even though the hex is recaptured, until the damaged rail in the hex is repaired, nothing can move by rail through the hex.
6) Yes, it can be in refit mode and get those benefits, but it may have a harder time getting all the replacements it wants to get due to limits on freight available.
7) As Wiedrock explained, among other things, the logistics phase is where the system deals with damaged elements, which can lead to the recording of a lot of losses. When you see a combat report list 100 men lost, it's not listing out the men in ground elements that were damaged instead of destroyed. To see info on the damaged elements, you have to look in the battle site/combat details. Inevitably some of these damaged elements result in additional permanent losses. In addition there's the other kinds of attrition that Wiedrock mentioned.
All understanding comes after the fact.

Thanks guys. Appreciate!

I did some tests on the 1 and 3 questions. Cannot guarantee, but I got the impression that the answer to both questions is 'no':

- no, support units is not refitting while the division is in refit mode;

- no, Air Groups do not regain strength faster if you set PRI or TP mode

Thank you!
