The End is Near - HLYA(AXIS) vs Chaos45(Soviet)

Post by HardLuckYetAgain »

I have played many games of WITE, both 1 and 2. My opponents know I show compassion when things are not going well. (i.e. like taking Leningrad turn 3) or I know the end is not in their liking. Or redoing a turn. Yes, I have let an opponent do over their whole turn. I have held the belief that you teach people how to play and not rub their noses in the "crap". Yes, I am guilty of rubbing peoples noses in the crap in WITE1 which I should not have done. But looks to me people like the cutthroat sportsmanship that was the Eastern front. As such this is that game this time. Outright cutthroat to last German or Russian standing, no surrender. (and yes for all you naysayers it will go past turn 10)

Chaos45 is a good player, but I told him he really isn't up to speed to take me on, but he insisted. Maybe I am being too arrogant with my skillset and underestimating Chaos45 quick learning. Time will tell.

Chaos45 and I go aways back. We have passed emails on the forums back in the day and lately we banter back and forth on my discord. The crazy thing is that Chaos45, K62, and Myself all live within very close proximity of each other, who would have thought that! I will take both out to lunch on my dime. I can only image the conversation would last until closing of the bar early morning.

I thank Chaos45 for the modded file for German building during the game. The mod can be found here that he did that we are playing with.

https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 0&t=404959

Chaos45 can give you the background on his reasoning of the German units to be built. Since that time he has honed it some more if I remember correctly. But we are playing with this file.

The funny story behind this is that I started restarted 6 times before Chaos got the file correct. We were laughing so hard on discord but Chaos45 was determined to figure this out, and he did it too with help from Joel. Thank you as always for your unwavering support Joel.

*****If anyone ever plays with "reduced retreat attrition" you better negotiate lower combat delay. The premise that was argued was that the German did encirclements and thus should entice them to do so with "reduced retreat attrition". BUT if you cant get through because of combat delay what good is that premise. That is my 2 cents and not meant to start a flame war in my AAR

Chaos45 Gave Morale Mod to Rumania throughout the war of +5 and Hungary +5 43 on. He was very generous to me on that part.

Again, having closed TB's will be a challenge that will have to be contended with. Losing the majority of Germany's fighters, Armor, and Mobile units going on vacation to other parts of Europe when they are really needed in Russia is annoying but a challenge. If you consider yourself an expert German player and are not playing with closed TB's I challenge you to pick up a game with closed TB's ;-) It can be nerve racking at times.

We are on turn 8, thank you for asking M60.

Turn 7 and/or 8 are the most important for me as Germany. The board has been set. Turning out to be an interesting game. Once I get some time I will update the AAR

I have to say I am tired of doing the first turns. But it is a necessary evil. As such I am only pointing out the end of turn for T1 with a couple caveats along the way. Yes, I know about leaving fort areas and auto surrendering the next turn. Not my cup of tea and I just blow them away to try and gain some morale/exp. Probably not but just how I am going to do it.

T1 Center center end of T1

FBD is converting single line track following the yellow arrow. Yes, you read that correctly, I am converting the single line track in the center.

T1 Center south end of turn 1

FBD is marked with yellow circle and will be converting, yes you guessed it, single line track marked in yellow. I will be using RAD's in the north to advance the rail.

I have part of 2nd PZ to close the pocket on Soviet Swamp dwellers retreating to the east. I ensured rail can't be used to escape. I will also swamp dwell myself this game ensuring I make a speedy advance through the swamp, especially with rail being close to do so. This unhinges a possible Soviet defense of Kiev by threating North, Center, and South to cross the river.

T1 South south end of turn 1

Finish up the south with this picture. The open ended pocket should be opened easily since it is not closed in the far south.
