FX sound volume

Isn't there a way to lower the volume of the fx sound? Even at 0 is still quite loud.

Just fired up a saved game and if I set FX to zero, then do an artillery bombardment there is a phut
phut sound, but no explosion noise. (phut phut is the sound of the gun /mortar firing [;)])

SO it looks as though it doesn't stop all sound. Hope that makes sense.

Not tried any other sounds.

Yes it is quite loud even at 10%. I always wear headphones. Use an HP Tower-Win 10. But other games I play are loud to so I usually have head phones pushed away from my ears to muffle the effects a bit.
But here I was wearing them on my ears. Yes, for me quite loud.
