I'm also confused

1) I just downloaded both image compressed files and got the following

a) The DB3000 contains 16225 images and
b) CWDB contains 7883 files,

The update post indicates
The DB3000 collection is now 3.5GB, and consists of 19153 files. The CWDB is now 1.6 GB and consists of 9372 files
Could you please explain the discrepancy?

Also which folder do the secondary images go?

Lastly

If I delete both the DB3000 and CWDB from my Command install folder the software will re-download them all again and update to the latest version?

Thank You

The primary image package for DB3000 contains 16225 images totaling 3.04 GB. The secondary images consist of 7883 files, totaling 1.51GB. It will be more if you include secondary images, but this update was just of the primary images. The secondary images haven't changed since the last update.

If you want to use secondary images, they go into the same folder as the primary, ie, Matrix Games/Command Modern Operations/DB/images/CWDB or Matrix Games/Command Modern Operations/DB/images/DB3000

Awesome. Thank You

One more question, what are the secondary images, as they overwrite some of the files on the respective folder

Is the secondary image different photo of the primary image?

Hey Dragnaath,
to quote CV60, regarding the secondary images: "(...)Those are used to show various aspects of a platform, or in some cases are just nice photos but are not necessarily the exact type or from the exact time period."

Here's what it can look like in-game:
SecondaryPics.jpg
SecondaryPics.jpg (76.03 KiB) Viewed 1518 times
They go into the same folder as the primary ones (not in a subfolder). They are differentiated by their different filename format. ie, they've got an underscore and a number to signify they are to be recognized as a secondary image.

asheron96 wrote: Mon Nov 06, 2023 8:10 pm (...)Also could some kind soul explain where the extra files found in post mentioning DmitryBlade i think it was should go ?
(...)
Hey Mats,

they go in the same folder as the pack you've downloaded, ie. .\Command - Modern Operations\DB\Images\DB3000

Be advised that, as to quote CV60, "(...)the "Accurate Image Package" that we put out tries to provide technically and historically accurate images of the weapons and platforms represented in the game. Where possible, the image used represents the exact type of platform and from the appropriate date and nationality.(...)". Which is to say, in my understanding, that DimitriyBlade's pictures are not.

Many many thanks CV60 for the comprehensive explanation saves me some heartburn as I now have a better grasp of the situation even if the difference in amounts of pictures is confusing as anything at least the amounts you point to in your posts correspond to what I have I will continue to read up and find out how to incorporate the others

Again thanks for taking the time to help out!

If you want to incorporate other images, here is what I would do. Note, I am not recommending this, I am simply giving advice on how to incorporate multiple image packages:
1) Completely empty out all images in you CDWB and DB3000 folders:
2) Load all the images that are not from the "Accurate Image" package that you want to use. The "Accurate Image" images are the ones located on the WS downloads page located here: https://www.warfaresims.com/?page_id=1876.
a) Consider making a copy of the DB3000 and CWDB folders at this point an putting them somewhere on a thumbdrive or hard drive. This will help you re-establish your non-Accurate Image package images when an update to the "Accurate Image" package is made. As this happens 3-4 times/year it will save you some effort.

3) Load the "Accurate Image" from https://www.warfaresims.com/?page_id=1876, and allow it to overwrite any duplicate images. What you now will have is the complete "Accurate Image" package, supplemented with whatever additional images you selected in step 2.
a) If you want the secondary images, go to https://warfaresims.slitherine.com/DBIm ... Images.zip and get them. As noted above, these are not necessarily perfectly accurate in terms of exact time frame, model, or nationality of a particular platform, but are included to show different aspects of a platform or just because they are nice photos.
4) If you ever want to get rid of the secondary images, just do a search for "_t" in your DB3000 and CWDB folders. That will call up the secondary images. Delete all the images that search finds, thereby removing the secondary images. If you just want to get rid of the line drawings, search for "_t5", and do the same. However a few secondary photos (not line drawings) are also designated "_t5", so you will have to manually scan and remove the line drawings using this method.

Because there is a "Secondary Images" pack offered, it is my understanding that the image packs made available as "IMAGES: DB3000 – CWDB" are to be considered "primary only" image packs.

If that's so, it may be worth mentioning that the primary image packs indeed contain secondary images as well , as their filename indicates. ie. with a "_t#" appendix.

If that's a feature, I'd suggest that the "Secondary Images" is to be removed, to prevent any confusion on the end user end.

On the other hand, if that's something to be improved, then I'd suggest removing the secondary images from both the D3000 and CWDB packs.

PS: if that's not it is not too much trouble, I'd suggest that the release date also be updated on the page https://command.matrixgames.com/?page_id=1876

I have a quick question.

If I launch and play the game from Steam and I have the latest version v1.06.1328.11, do I have the latest version of DB image and descriptions automatically or do I have to download it from here and replace like in the tutorial?

Thanks in advance.

I don't have the Steam version, but as I understand it, you have to do the image replacement manually. I believe the description files are now being done automatically via program updates, although you can still do them manually if you like.
