Transient sounds.

Post by Apocal »

I was just wondering, does CMANO simulate transient sound contacts such as aircraft catapults, guns firing, etc. and their effects on the acoustic environment? I haven't noticed if it does happen, but I have exactly tested exhaustively to verify one way or another.

You can hear gunfire when the cannons on planes are used, but otherwise the only other sounds are when planes take off, torpedoes and bombs are dropped, missiles are fired and targets are destroyed. The sounds for HARMS are kind of neat as they make a "popping" sound when they go off, quite unlike an explosion.

I think Apocal's question is in regards to sonar detection of a contact. If so, I would like to know the answer as well.

When a submarine fires a weapon I expect any passive sonar in range to hear it. That doesn't seem to happen.
