An easy addition. I think. :

US Aircraft:

SH-3G Sea King -- United States (Navy), 1970, 105x cargo/utility conversions from SH-3A&D

Not really an important addition, but I think it's an easy one. I'm a pedant when it comes to setting up CAWs so I just had to post this [;)].

Here's something to hang on to: https://www.helis.com/database/model/SH-3G-Sea-King/

Cheers

RE: Cold War Database 1946-1979 Platform Requests

Post by SunlitZelkova »

After much delay, I am now ready to make my requests regarding Soviet nuclear weapons. Since I made my requests for the Su-6 attacker and Tu-16 changes, I have now learned that the database request threads aren't for everything that existed or even every little detail that is incorrect as much as it is for major inaccuracies and requests things for scenarios. Thus in this post, all of the requests are in regards to scenarios I plan to make.

I will start with free fall bombs. I will list the bombs, their specifications/how they can be implemented, and then list the aircraft that need them. There are alot of fictional nuclear weapons so I suggest converting them into real ones. For example, the RU-57 nuclear bomb does not appear to have existed. However instead of removing it, it can be renamed as, for example, RDS-4, and the characteristics can be changed to that of the RDS-4 (the first Soviet tactical bomb), and as most of the aircraft with the fictional RU-57 also carried the RDS-4 in real life, those aircraft that carry the RU-57 won't have to have a new loadout added. Of course, a new weapon and loadout can be done instead as well, but I hope my idea is possible.

I suggest that the following "conversions" of fictional nuclear bombs currently in the database to the real nuclear bombs I have requested-

DBID #189 RU-57 Nuclear Bomb to RDS-4 [5kt Nuclear] -- Soviet Union

DBID #1500 RN-42 Strategic Bomb [200kT Nuclear] to RP-32 [200kt Nuclear] -- Soviet Union

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Loadouts with the missing bombs that aircraft need-

For the Tu-4A

1 x RDS-1

1 x RDS-2

1 x RDS-3

1 x RDS-4

1 x RDS-5

For the Tu-16A**

1 x RDS-1

1 x RDS-2

1 x RDS-3

1 x RDS-4

1 x RDS-5

1 x RDS-6S

1 x RP-30

1 x RP-32

For the Tu-95MA****

1 x RDS-1

1 x RDS-2

1 x RDS-3

1 x RDS-4

1 x RDS-5

1 x RDS-6S

1 x RDS-37

1 x RP-30

1 x RP-32

I will provide more information on these loadouts later, however providing the information will be part of a bigger process as one of the main factors (range) is determined by fuel load, which is very inaccurate (way too much) on the Tu-4s at the moment and also inaccurate (also too much but to a lesser degree) on the Tu-95M.

Also, in the case of the Tu-16A and Tu-95MA, these are aircraft not technically in the game and I need to make a full request for them.

Now for the early cruise missile carrying Tu-95s. There are quite a few inaccuracies with these aircraft, to the point that it would make more sense to do a separate series of requests for the early cruise missile carriers. I will request these changes later.

Next is ICBMs. First I will list changes/corrections, then new units.

There are two more platforms I would like to request, the R-5M MRBM and the R-9A ICBM, but I need to find more information before making the request.

**- This aircraft (Tu-16A) is not technically in the game yet, I have to request it before being able to give more information about the nuclear bomb loadouts

Whoops! I forgot to post the sources.

My sources are the following books-

The Kremlin's Nuclear Sword by Steven J. Zaloga

Tupolev Tu-4: The First Soviet Strategic Bomber by Yefim Gordon, Dmitriy Komissarov and Vladimir Rigmant

Tupolev Tu-16: Versatile Cold War Bomber by Yefim Gordon, Dmitriy Komissarov and Vladimir Rigmant

Famous Russian Aircraft: Tupolev Tu-95 & Tu-142 by Yefim Gordon and Dmitriy Komissarov

If needed I can send a folder with pictures of the pages with the information. There are quite a few though and I won't have time for at least a week after this post so there may be a delay.

Jo,

Noted for possible future inclusion.

Found an errata in the Yak-9 Frank fuel consumption table, as you can see in the image the burned fuel while at max power if by far the lowest of all. Giving it an endurance of as many as 8! hours at max speed.

Could some more earlier Soviet carrier projects be added? Like Project 1153 and the Orel?

HYPOTHETICAL UNIT – FFE (Vancouver Class) 1956-
- x13 units, 10 for RCN, 3 for NATO mutual aid
- Memorandum to Cabinet, Mainguy summarized the navy’s proposal:
The Royal Canadian Navy is preparing plans for an anti-submarine escort vessel which is a simplified development of the St. Laurent-class destroyer escort. This twenty-four knot ship, known as the Vancouver-class frigate, is intended primarily for use in the limited role of immediate defence of a convoy and will not have the full capability of the St. Laurent-class destroyer escort in offensive anti-submarine operations. It will be a single screw ship as opposed to the twin screw St. Laurent-class destroyer escort and will use a single unit of machinery basically similar to the two units used in the St. Laurent-class ships. It will be possible to construct the Vancouver-class frigates relatively quickly in wartime and they will be more economical to build than the larger, faster and more powerfully armed St. Laurents.

Seems to be an issue with fuel consumption for a bunch of US ships with DB 476 and 477. 470 is fine.

Here's the Canberra. Other ships affected include Helena, Boston, Rochester and probably others as well.

The 3" rocket loadout for the British Brigand B.1 (#720) is bugged. While the Database says the loadout has a "350nm Strike radius, Hi-Lo-Hi profile" just like the other three loadouts with external weapons, the 3" rocket loadout actually has approximately 175nm of range (not radius) at optimum cruise speed and altitude.

Turns out database 470 is affected as well after all. When can we expect this issue to be addressed?

When I push another db update out

and the ETA on that is? One would hope this is a priority given scenarios are broken with ships running out of fuel leaving them stranded and useless.
