Adding Aircraft to Airbases

Post by LuckyJim1010 »

My test Wattisham is looking good but I cannot seem to add aircraft to it.

Page 95 of the manual shows how to add aircraft to units but when I select the airbase I get no 'Edit AC' in the drop down (I am assuming it means the right click drop down)

I have the airbase grouped but have tried grouped and ungrouped with no luck.

What am I doing wrong ?

Many thanks

What are the elements of your air base, as it is grouped?

Thanks all but I have it. I think it was because they unit was not grouped.

Yes, they have to be grouped. As I recall, you need a runway, a runway access point, an aircraft holding unit (ramp, revetment, hangar) and an ammo building (bunker, revetment, etc), all grouped together, to make an airbase.

Yep - I think it was the Ammo bunker missing that caused the fail. I'm away now, 2x74 Sqn Phantom's out of Wattisham on QRA scramble to identify a Faker. Loving it..

Now if I can just work out why the mission editor wants me to launch my airbase units, cant see Ammo Dumps and Aircraft Shelters getting airborne

Thanks for posting this info. I would add that for newbies like me, one item easy to overlook is not having runway access points large enough for the aircraft at the field. It took me a little while to figure out that was why my little O-1F Bird Dog could take off but the (very large) P-2H(P2V-7) Neptune was stuck in the hanger [8|]
