Suggestions for options for single play

I've never been totally clear on the best options for a strong (but not excessively cheaty) AI experience in AGEOD games. If anyone has a list of settings for a generally optimal experience in AJE, I'd love to hear them.

you really have to give the AI 'more time' in all the AGEOD games apart from Pride of Nations
I personally would push the AI ranking at least one more notch - don't make it too aggressive or it will start sending small formations deep into your territory
