Launcher error
Launcher error
Seems that I'm having the same problem as a few other people; when I press 'launch', the menu screen just reappears. I've attached the dxdiag file to this post, and would appreciate any help that can be given!
RE: Launcher error
Do the other buttons in the launcher work? What is your anti-virus software? Can you reinstall the game?

RE: Launcher error
I can view the manual and patch notes. I can't change the settings or launch the game. The updater to version 1.042 does not work (and I cannot download from the Matrix Games website, either). I have Norton anti-virus. I can uninstall OK, and I've tried doing that and reinstalling but no luck.
RE: Launcher error
So you have tried to run the version 1.000 without any updates? I just want to be sure that this is not related to the latest patch.

RE: Launcher error
Does the game start if you go to the installation folder and run ArmoredBrigade.exe?

RE: Launcher error
I've only tried launching the 1.000 version so far, and haven't had any luck with downloading the patch. I also tried running the .exe file but still nothing - it didn't seem to do anything at all.

RE: Launcher error
Norton's AV is pretty bad about interfering with some program installations (one of the main reasons I switched to McAfee years ago). If you haven't tried already, I would uninstall the Armored Brigade copy you have now, temporarily disable Norton's and then try re-installing.
RE: Launcher error
On Discord I had a chat with a person who had a very similar issue, nothing happening when the .exe is run. The problem is that if I can't debug the crash I can't trace the exact spot where it occurs in the code. What is common in the DxDiag reports is that the other person had the Intel(R) HD Graphics 630 display card, and you have Intel(R) HD Graphics 530. Over the years I've learned that the integrated Intel graphics cards have issues.
Here's one case with Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4596660
The only thing I can recommend is updating the video card drivers. It would be interesting to debug this and see where it crashes, but without the hardware I'm unable to do it.

RE: Launcher error
Sounds like they are not getting into the starting splash screen animations. That could be a missing codex issue. Is there a way to rename/delete those animations and see if the game starts?
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!

The splash screen doesn't have animations, just a few .png's. I believe their system fails to create the settings window where you select the window size etc.

RE: Launcher error
I would like to play this, but the technical issues are beyond me and I don't think I will be able to get this working. How can I go about getting a refund for this?
RE: Launcher error
Please do the following:
1. Download the last Nvidia drivers.
https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverR ... 2009/en-us
2. When updating the drivers, please tick the "Perform a clean installation" box.
3. Set the Nvidia GPU as the preferred graphic processor for the game. You can do this via the Nvidia Control Panel. Check the link below for on how to do this:

Run the game and check if the issue persists.

RE: Launcher error
Thanks, I will try this tomorrow when I get a moment.
RE: Launcher error
Brilliant, that did the trick. Many thanks! Now I just need to learn to play well...

RE: Launcher error
I am having the same issue, but the Nvidia download isn't compatible with my system for some reason. I have an Intel(R) HD Graphics 630 display card chip as well. Is there an alternate way to update?

Is the Intel integrated graphics the only video card on your system? Have you tried to update its own drivers?

Hello !
Maybe a late reply, but with Intel Graphics, you have to apply this "fix" :
