You don't have to have a solid green circle on an enemy if another member of your unit sees him you can shoot near them with HE for splash damage. Your tank gunner or loader will automatically switch to HE for non locked on circle targets. For instance this Sherman couldn't get a good on target shot off so HE shells landing next to it wrecked havoc. Just can't tackle a tough tank? Use one tanks for HE to keep him buttoned up and pinned while another sneaks around the sides the AP shells.
