Wow, the AI in this game is bad/broken

I've never played any CC game before and, not knowing what I'm doing, played the first scenario and won a major and total victory as the attacker and defender respectively. I then played the second scenario as the attacker and won a major victory. At no time did I feel challenged. I really expected more of a challenge from the AI, and it seems especially inept on the attack. During the second game, the AI offered a truce only seconds after the game started when its tank was destroyed. Does the AI get better in the other battles or campaigns? Are there going to be any patches to improve the AI? My knee jerk reaction at this point is the AI is broken.

The AI is as good or bad as in all other wargames - it is no real challenge. Play a human opponent and you will see how great this game is. Making efforts in enhancing the AI's performance is useless in my eyes. It will never match the abilities of a skilled human player.

You can download "vetmods" for COI to make the AI "smarter" or at least more of a challenge.
As Korsun said, the AI is about as good/bad as AI in most other wargames. If you do want a challenge play someone H2H.

If you are comfortable with the relative performance of all the different weaponry, and use basic common sense tactics, you will normally find the AI very easy to beat. It can vary; occasionally it can surprise you.
There are some things you can do to make adjustments, but adjustments is all they are.
For example, in the game Options, You play on Hero while the AI on Recruit. Also, change the AI Difficulty settings to unrealistic (switch them all on). The AI will still be a poor tactician, but it will make them behave a bit harder.
You can try modes of game play. One is to accept your deployment as given to you by the game at the start of a battle. Your Units will be all over the place. Start the battle from there! Or (or as well as), never issue a Fire Command (except for indirect fire weapons such as Mortars), just manouevre. Use the Ambush and Defend Commands to change the posture of any Unit/Team, but let them do the firing. They will, but maybe not exactly as you would do or want.
For a truly aggressive and Brutal AI match, then there is none tougher (that I know of) than CCIV and the VetBOB Mod. Play as Germans against the AI. If you can Blitzkreig your way through that, I will take my hat off to you...
