CCModSwap / Mods with COI v3.06.04.00 ?

Hi
After several years, I wanted to get back into this game a little, I had bought a boxed version which worked very well at the time...
But today, this version no longer works correctly so I downloaded the latest version and patched it.
Like many others, I used some campaign mods, sounds, etc.
But on these latest versions, I noticed (for some reason that I don't understand) that ModSwap was no longer part of the game!
My question ? why not include it like in the base game?? It worked great before!
How do I install mods from now on?
Is there a tutorial? A link to help?
Because I tried to download CCModSwap 1.2 and installed it in the game folder but it was impossible to install any mods...
When I try, I am told that my version of the game is not the correct one...
However, I modify the INI file and the Mods are for COI in CC3
I also noticed that ModSwap gets stuck on WACHT AM RHEIN by default and I don't see how to put it on COI...
For information, when I try to install the old version of the game and I use ModSwap, it tells me that the game is not installed...
Is it still possible to use Mods with this latest version?

ModSwap is no longer required or supported in the latest version of Cross of Iron. You can still use it if you have it (and you want to play mods that still require it) but current versions of Close Combat support an alterate modding mechanism that does not require you to replace the game files. Instead you install the modified files into a separate folder/directory and run the base game executable with a command line option '/D <folder name where the modified files are installed>.

Thank you for your response, but could you give me more details and provide me with an example ?
The base game is installed like this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Games\Close Combat - Cross of Iron\Launcher.exe"
Are you talking about the EXE: CCE in the game folder ?
This one doesn't seem to be editable...
Or the launchers? "Close Combat - Cross of Iron (Game Menu)"
For example if I want to use the mod: COI_DOF2_GermansVsAI
So I create a folder of the same name (it is a .cc3 file) ?
I noticed that there was also an empty "Mods" folder in documents / my game / closecombatcrossofiron... what is it for ?

Hi Revolver1976,
For the stand-alone version of Cross of Iron (the one that would normally be installed in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Games\Close Combat - Cross of Iron\") using a mod that overwrites the base game files, you can install that mod over the top of your stand-alone Cross of Iron and it should work fine. If the mod has an installer then you can run that, or you can hand-copy the files over the base Cross of Iron files. If the mod you have requires ModSwap you can probably even find ModSwap.exe floating around out there on the internet if you search for it. I'd also recommend contacting the mod maker (if possible) to see if they have a newer version or can help with installation.
To use the /D option I mentioned, you create a shortcut for the game executable (CCE.EXE) and run the shortcut instead of running the Launcher. Here are the basic steps:
1) Right click CCE.EXE in the Windows file explorer and select 'Create Shortcut.'
2) Right-click the new shortcut and select 'Properties.'
3) In the "Target" field of the Properites you will add at the end (leaving the rest of the field alone) something like "/D <modname>" without the quotes around it, and substituting the name of your mod for <modname>.
4) Install your mod files into a new folder named <modname> under the same location where your CCE.EXE file is installed -- for example "C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Games\Close Combat - Cross of Iron\<modname>\" and the modded files that exist under the <modname> folder will be used instead of the same file(s) in the base game.
5) Run the shortcut you created rather than starting the Launcher.
Normally a mod-maker will have a install program that does some or all of this for you, but if that's not the case then you'd need to copy the modifed files by hand.

I will explain my steps:
The game is installed here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Games\Close Combat - Cross of Iron
As you described it to me, I created a shortcut of the executable which I placed in a main folder which I named DOF2.
In this same folder I created a second folder called DOF2 containing the mod file which is named DOF2.cc3
The base target for the shortcut is: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Games\Close Combat - Cross of Iron\CCE.EXE"
But when I add DOF2 like this, I get a message stating that it is not valid.
Ex: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Games\Close Combat - Cross of Iron\DOF2\CCE.EXE"
Do I need to unzip the cc3 file?

Your shortcut "Target" should look like this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Games\Close Combat - Cross of Iron\CCE.EXE" /D DOF2
And yes, you will need to extract all the files from the CC3 file and make sure they're in the correct sub-folders under the DOF2 folder.

Is there any way mods will work with COI from GOG? I've actually asked GOG to update their COI version to 3.06.04 as well.

Yes, for GOG you can create a mod folder under the game install location, place all the modded files into that mod folder, and then create a shortcut (or a custom launch option in GOG) to run CCE.EXE with /d <mod folder name>

Thanks, that's at least encouraging news!
However, I get the dreaded "Unable to find Operation in Data" error, which others have reported as well. Case in point is the Scheldt Mod I would like to run. I believe I have created the right folder structure. Is there any capital sensitivity in the folder and file names that may be a problem?

No, folder names are not case sensitive.
