CCTLDModInstaller - problem after mod uninstall

Post by davidss »

Hi,
I just finished a sound mod for TLD, and used CCTLDModInstaller to package it up. I installed it to test ... and all worked well. Then I realized I forgot to write a readme file ... so I uninstalled the mod using the "add and remove programs" system in windows. Everything seemed fine.
Then I did the readme, used CCTLDModInstaller again and installed the newer exe.
The problem is ... after launching the mod ... their is no mod installed on the game.
I tried removing again, removed temp files, etc ... but still doesn't work.

any help would be appreciated.

Hi berndn,
Thanks for your reply ... and for your install program.

Here is the Mod package I put together: (I think it has what you have asked for to review).

thanks for the help

I think the problem is easy. Please verify that you have created the folder DATA\BASE beneath the mod directory. Put the weapons.txt file in it. Next you need to create LOCALFX beneath the mod directory for the Sound.sfx file.

The installer will create those 2 (actually 3) missing directories as well as the subdirectory BASE in the OnGroundFX directory. I have read the manual install and it's no good idea to replace original files in CC TLD and CC WaR.

I did not create any other folders. I just put both of the files into the mod folder ... my fault for not reading your instructions properly.
I'll retry it with the files in each specific folder and then put those two folders in the mod folder.

Thanks very much for your help

oh ... and thanks for mentioning the info about it not being a good idea to manually install the files. I'll remove that option from the package.

And thanks for putting this mod installer together ... it's a very convenient way of using mods

 As bernd said

just re-create your CC \Folder sytem for the new mod.

Everything will be put in the same relative \Folder when installed.

if you have files in the wrong folder to start with then they will be in the wrong folder when installed.

cheers and keep up the good work.

You find it here and much more stuff: http://closecombat.matrixgames.com/Long ... Dmods.html
Maybe it's a good idea to have a sticky thread with this information or add this link to the matrix product page.

Thanks for having these resources available.
May I make a suggestion though ... maybe add further description to the Close Combat Website link in brackets:

Close Combat Website (Updates, Mods, Maps, and Tools for all CC versions)

I think it would get more hits if people knew more about what was available behind that link. [:)]
