Background

Been looking at the files, but cannot find the background.
Has anybody found the background file(s)?
The UI looks so bland I’d prefer it to be either a dark single, or ideally some patterned tile.
Been able to find almost everything exept the main background files (probably codes somewhere as colors).
The GUI would really benefit from some extra details to make it a bit more sexy.

Go to Program Files (x86)/Matrix Games/Desert War 1940-1942/Images/backround folder. You can change the sidebar.jpg and sideBarTop.jpg images to whatever you want.

Hi thanks for responding.
I have done that, but this only changes the sidebar image (low right) and color (middle right).
What I really want to change is the area that is behind the map - the main background color.
Imo it would look dramatically better if it is a dark grey or black, if limited to a single color, or a pattern if it is a file/tile.
I suspect it is hard coded color.

Launch the game. Select the Editor button. Open a scenario in the Editor then select the Map Tab. Two thirds of the way down the sidebar on the right is a button called -- Map Background Color. Press the button and select a color. Save the scenario. You're done.

Did not expect to find background colors in the editor, but thanks - works great!
During the holidays I’ll take a serious look at the buttons and screens.
Nice challenge

Did not realize how flexible this game and its editor are, very nice!
