Auto Refit

I thought I had it working two games ago but for the last two it's not.

I've read, reread, experimented but I cannot get it to do what I want anymore and it's not difficult. Now it's entirely possible missing something but if so what!

He's what I want it to do!
The AI to design nothing, all manual.
The Ai to refit my manual designed automatically if there's a later design.

As I understand it this should work for empire ships/bases.
The option screen automations are all set to manual.
The empire policy is set to manual design and the individual check boxes are ticked for tose types I eant to automatically refit.
Each manual design has its 'Default Retrofit Stance@ set to Auto Refit. This can also be controlled from the designs screen by changing auto to manual.

I've just started a new game. Using the explorer as an example my initial design does not have hyperdrive, lets call it Ex-1. Once I get hyperdrives I add it to new design Ex-2. With these setting I would expect the Ex-1 to retrofit to Ex-2 but they don't.

I one of the posts says that to get it to do this you also have to have upgrade set to auto as well but that doesn't work either although I think it did?

Any help appreciated.

Most of the attention is in Distant Worlds 2.

Try questions on steam, I think you understand things, it may take time to get the game and you to understand each other :).

If you have ships on manual you will have to manually 're-fit' to use your words. Use the game's Galactopedia.

Hope these help, maybe see you in the Distant Worlds 2 forum.

Buy for now, and happy investigating!

I've never seen State ships auto refit like private ships do (eventually) no matter the settings.

If the designs are set to automatically retrofit I expect they will or should..... eventually
.... ie not immediately or when you think they should

I have never set combat designs to auto-refit so I cannot be sure this is the case....
I have mistakenly left other designs (eg mines) on auto and only discovered much later after the AI had refit to the latest design, which is not always the one I want that particular mine to be (I use different designs for luxury resources & standard & fuel)

So maybe let the game run ahead at speed for a while and see will the AI refit the designs you mentioned
Obviously save first so you can just run it forward as a test

I don't use Steam, too much unwanted c%^& on it.

Graphic spec on my machine are, according to the game specs, not good enough hence I do not have it. If there was a demo for me to try then I would but until then I stuck with what I have.

The game does have this tendency towards very, very slow updates for civilian stuff but they do eventually. As to state ship they never update automatically no matter how long you leave them unless to turn averything to auto in the option screen.

I only want to auto-refit the none fighting shipsa, explorers etc. I also have a number of different design but mine are usually bases and you have to leave them on manual as the game won't allow you to pick and choose which base to auto/manually control.
