While there are many mods here for Star Wars, you will find Rise of the Dark Side will be different from them all.

We have the heroes of the Rebellion....

We have the villains of the Empire....

But we also have others in this saga that have not been talked about.

Set in a time starting shortly before A New Hope, this is the story of the other heroes and villains of Star Wars.

So where will development of this mod start.... well of course no better world to start other than the planet Tatooine which Kenobi had once said "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy."

Now keep in mind that in the Star Wars universe, a single planet is not the home of just one race but is the home of many races. So what races will we look at on Tatooine.

So this list will be gone through to determine which races can fky a starship and which ones, such as the Rancor, will not.

While we are on Tatooine, we also need to look at what this planet imports and exports.

Imports for Tatooine will be:

Metals
Foodstuffs
Chemicals
Medicine
Technology
Slaves
Death sticks
Mining and light industrial equipment


And then for exports from Tatooine

Minerals
Illegal goods
Death sticks
Neurotoxins
Slaves

So what races do these guys belong too.... well the races are still o be worked out ....... as they are images created by AI they theoretically can be assigned to any star system in the Star Wars Galaxy.

I now have literally 1181 AI created pictures of Star Wars races that I can now add to the mod with more coming. The next step after collecting the images is to determine how to add these races in to the game..... will they be characters that you meet along the way? A lot to think of over the next few days.

Keeping in mind the planets in Star Wars like Tatooine have many different races living on them, what I will most likely do is to assign a race name to each of these going into the mod and then assign them to be living in specific solar systems.

Now AI will tell me this..... "In Distant Worlds: Universe, you can add a virtually unlimited number of custom races through the game's modding capabilities."

SO I ask the AI.... "do i need to assign a race file to non playable races in Distant Worlds Universe" and the reply I got was the following....

"Yes, in Distant Worlds Universe, you must assign a race file to all races, including non-playable ones, if you're creating custom races or modifying existing ones within a theme. "

This of course would also mean creating a race bias entry for each of the new races..... that is not a problem really as the race bias file will be created via an Excel spreadsheet.

What I am more likely to do with the 1200 plus races going to into the mod is to assign them to planets with existing races on them such as the Hutt or the Bothans for example. In theory they would be part of the one race on the planet because, in the case of Tatooine for example, you put in the one race living on the planet and then the names of the different people living there. At no stage can you say in Distant Worlds ... well we have a dozen Bothans, Wookies or Mon Calamari on this planet...... they would all have to members of the people living on the planet.

Do you plan to use Bacon or Expansion mods for your mod to work? Original game have limits on count of various things that it allow to mod (Race, tech, etc).

Yes I may be looking at those....... at this stage gathering the pictures of the races that will be in the mod and then working out how to add them in the mod and where.

So far 1542 Star Wars races are available to add to the mod... somewhere.

With so much images, even 1mb per image game would need lot more memory to work. Unless it load them on demand.
Anyway, good luck with mod creation. Let me know if you have problems with technical part of starting mod in DWU or limits in Expansion mod

I already have an idea how to make sure this mod doesn't need a Pentium 20 to run.

Besides that..... the images will be be smaller than what you see here and will be 300 x 300 in size and 100 KB in size....... Also Distant Worlds will only load the races for the number of systems you specify at the start.....

Game already have some code to load images on demand to avoid bloating memory. But I don't remember which one
