Playing this again PBEM as the US and wondering if anyone has a patented method of suppressing the Sovs AD?

Obviously you have no arty and a major part of your early firepower is the Apaches but I find the Soviet SAM unit especially deadly, even at range and a competent Soviet player is quite capable of placing it to cover the bulk of his forces.

Anyone got any tricks, currently the best I've come up with is drawing fire with the Kiowas and rushing in the Apaches whilst he's reloading - not ideal with orders delay etc.

Try using the terrain. The Map used for 3rd Herd, IIRC, has plenty of hills and valleys where you can hide in the terrain from the long ranged Soviet SAMs.
