HQ overloading

I noticed that both AGC and AGS both begin heavily overloaded at the start of a GC. Is there anything that can be done about that or is it not worth the APs to move things around at the start?
Or do you just leave it alone until April '42 when the Max CPs goes up?

I don't do anything on Army Group level in 1941. The APs are better spent on reassigning SUs, changing leaders, reassigining divisions etc. Army Group South's situation will be resolved once you get Azov, Manych and Bataysk which will trigger the Army Group A / B split and you get another Army Group. For Army Group Centre's situation I usually reassign the northernmost army of AGC to AGN some time in early 1942.

Thanks for the help.
Plus Morvael in another thread said only directly attached combat units to a HQ can get SU's during combat. Plus it now costs 0 APs to move SUs down the chain in 8.01b.

For AGS I tend to leave some units, particularly Rumanians, on garrison or anti-partisan duty, and those can be assigned to AG Antonescu. Over time that relieves some of the overloading from the original AGS.

Yeah, Axis Army Groups and Soviet Fronts tend to be overloaded and this can't be really helped.

[&:] hmmm up until now I just took the hq overloading as a big pain in the you know what. i'm 50 years old and not getting any younger. And now I hear from staff that overloading cant be helped? now I get the impression this pain in the you know what is an arbitrary gamey device designed to drive me mad and waste my useless time! like some plot from a pre star wars 70s. science fiction flick.(star wars plug unintended) So if this overloading thing is arbitrary can you kind folk please trade it for an arbitrary feature that's more ergonomic? I believe that the HQ overloads that plague both players from time to time reflect historical constraints on both sides. If you were Hitler or Stalin, you couldn't just say, "hey let's create a new Army Group/Front out of nothing" -- you had to have qualified staff for it.

Think sigup has best insight; its all about best use of APs.
For me (an Axis fanboy,) leaders most important, then divisional assignments to corps (force structure.) Set "commitment levels" to 1 for corps, 0 the higher HQs, but GHQ to 9. Game code will level the support units w/o AP cost and accumulate SUs at GHQ. Then begin sharpening SU assignments. Reassigning to higher HQs burns too many APs early on for small benefit. Keep corps HQs close enough to subordinate divisions for most effective results and use them with that as a priority.
Would Soviet player technique be any different?

you have possibility to reaffect 3rd and 4th rumanian army to Antonescu
this will lessen AGS overload but can cost up to 99 AP

I overload AGS even further, by asigning 2nd army to it as soon as posible .
As long as individual armies or corps are not everloaded , everything is ok.
However if a leder check is failed both at corps and army level , there is litle that Rundstedt can do about it.
