Moving attachments from one HQ to another

Post by schmolywar »

So im on turn 7 and about to assault Leningrad. I read that you should attach as much as possible to the troops going in there, so my question is: how EXACTLY do I do that? Yes, I know about the attach support option, but I need more up north)

Lets say I want the Gustav guns, nebelwerfers and pioneers can you then move those attachments from one HQ to another? And from one army group to another?

The HQs up north only have a few flaks available atm.

First thing to do is to make sure your HQs are all locked, so that things don't automatically move around on you as you're trying to get them from one HQ to another.

Find the HQs or units that the SUs that you're trying to move are attached to. Then you'll usually find it easiest to attach them to OKH. Then, on your next turn, they'll be available to be reassigned to the units, or HQs you're trying to get them to. Just select the unit, or HQ, and then assign. It will pull from OKH, or one of the other HQs that are in the direct chain of command.

Done.

I do the same thing. It's easier for me to just assign all excess to OKH or STAVKA, and redistribute from there.

OK, how can I lock all HQ units the fastest? Somewhere in cthe commanders report screen?

Also, im trying to figure out how leaders rating effect their forces if they are either field marshals or corp leaders. W.Model can be both it seems. Where is it most effective to put him?

Keep in mind that if the game is started without the HQs locked, then all HQs received as reinforcements will arrive unlocked. You will need to keep an eye on them, and lock them ASAP, when they come on the map.

That said, with the HQs selected in the Commanders Report, there is a function listed near the top called "Support Level". Click on that. Then, select "-1" for the input into the field. This will change all the selected HQs to Locked status.

So basically all this needs to be done at the start of turn 1 or else I cant reattach them to OKH? I just tried locking all HQs on turn 9, went to turn 10 to see if they popped up at OKH, but there was nothing there, and no HQs had any new attachments available.

I think we may have a misunderstanding. If you lock all HQs, then you get no automatic movement of attachments between HQs. However, if some are still unlocked, then automatic movement might occur between those unlocked HQs.

Locked means all SU movement (reassignment) must be done manually, and except for the case of a transfer from the High Command HQs, will cost APs to accomplish.

I understand that.

All I need to know however is exactly, tea spoon fed, what I need to do to get attachments from all over the place, to army group north. Locking all HQs, waiting one turn and seeing if I could pull them out of OKH didnt resolve the issue. OKH didnt have any extra attachments available either.

After locking all your HQs you still have to manually attach the specific support units to the OKH (or Army group North). The "locking" itself just stop the HQs from spreading them around again, to units who often don't need them
