if it can be broken, i'll break it, if game supported logs maybe would be easier to see what was causing the error?

but hopefully with my pictures of settings and saves it's easy enough to follow as just done it twice and got same result both times, so checked it before uploading, WITE works fine, and are testing other battles and tutorials atm without the same errors either, latest amd drivers, windows 8.1 with no errors, clean install or windows and game and both up to date in all respects, good luck and hope it helps some.

event viewer logged it as well as a exe hang btw just for information

here's my DxDiag report just in case you ask or need it, drivers are latest none beta release version

easy to sort and fix as already done it myself tbh, just ran in windows compatibility mode and used windows 7 instead of the default as i'm a windows 8.1 user, again setting it to run as admin, and all works well in base game and in the latest beta build, so info again is just for info, it may or may not fully support windows 8.1 or 10 out of the box without minor alterations for some users without using compatibility mode on some hardware, tested four pc's with same and all work, all different hardware and cards installed, but 3 out of the 4 are all windows 8.1 pc's...

mind you using compatibility mode in windows 8.1 also makes AI turn on a i7 with 16gb of ram run slow, with turn time for AI moves being slower than none compatibility mode use.

spoke too soon it seems with another crash / lockup :)

locked up on AI turn on as you can see occupy front line, and hangs for ever and a day.

seems it's a sound issue as looking through all the solutions for errors, and trying a few of them with no success, renaming the sound folder seems so far to have sorted it, and now without sound game also is much quicker while the AI is thinking and making it's move, air is rapid to the point of jumping backwards and forwards all over the place at break next speeds, but O/S install was only a month or so ago, so no idea how a codec got broken or misplaced in that time, unless vga driver update broke it :(

fixed a few broken files and sorted, sounds now work and turned back on (folder renamed back to normal)

Image

game pre beta patch and after latest beta patch tested working for 10 turns each, so seems to be fixed and stable now i've sorted out any errors at my end, my bad [X(][:@]

Hi,

yesterday I bought the game. I installed it, with all the patches. But the game crashes after 1-3 minutes from the loading.

Have you looked at the link in post 26? Sound compatibility is the most common problem with CTD.

I think I found a small bug/error. Probably not worth starting a new thread for it.

The 1st Gillingham BR static mixed AA regiment isn't actually static. It can be moved from the UK Home Forces HQ like any normal AA-unit.

East Front Not working right in Torch?

Post by joliverlay »

I have tested to see if the Axis could slow the advance of the Russians.

I have been playing extensively in Torch using the 4th Supreme Command scenario. As soon as possible I move sufficient forces into the East Front Box (Air Units) and repair them regularly (before they needed it) that I have sufficient forces to be above the "stable" amount from the first bad weather turns in the game until just before the Allied Invasion in Northern Europe. I expect to have a hard time in the West because I have removed almost no ground forces (just 2 destroyed infantry divisions). However I am quite sorry to see that my much larger than historical East Front forces (Including extra HQs) in the enhanced scenario have the Russians within only a few hexes of Warsaw and one hex from cutting off the Baltic states.

The point is, I think the mechanic is broken. I'm loosing ground faster when the forces in the EF box are larger. I expect my losses may be lower, but I'm loosing ground much more quickly than historical.

Windows 10 issues

War in the West and War in the East go unresponsive when I use the shortcut. The air portion of War in the West will not launch after setting the missions.

Not sure if this is a bug, a data base error, or just the way its supposed to be but CW armor runs out of Sherman 3 and 5's by fall of 44. Both tanks stop production in 43 and the TOE for Canadian and Polish armor doesn't call for a change to the Cromwell or anything else. It might affect Brit armor as well.

Best to start a separate thread just for this. Are you seeing this problem in the 43-45 campaign game? Can you post a save? They should swap into other tanks if they are out of what they prefer, but only if there's a lot of something in the pool. Are these tanks no longer importing from other tank types once they reach their out of production date? In my AI vs AI tests I'm not seeing a shortage, as both pools still have hundreds of tanks as of Dec 44. Also, you might end up with a British/Canadian manpower shortage that is preventing some tanks from getting into your units. Just guessing though, a save would be good to look at.
All understanding comes after the fact.

Sorry to do this as a reply to someone else's thread -- I can't figure out how to start a new thread. But.. I just bought the game and started, and I'm finding that it doesn't show the saved games. When I exit the Husky scenario, having saved it as, for example Turn 3, the game can't find it when I reload. The save file is in the SAV folder under a folder called Introductory Scenario - Operation Husky (2), but when I hit the Load Saved Game button on the opening screen, all I see is .\save\, and the game says it can't open that. Anyone have a thought?

Thanks

1943 I FF Corps commander is misspelled, it should be Henry Martin not "Henri Martin". (yes, it's an atypical French spelling)

can't post a link because of the post limit but "Henry Jules Jean Maurice Martin" is his full name
