Mod for Map Zoom

I recall once stumbling upon a thread that contained within a description of how one could edit files to adjust the 3 levels of zoom of the map one cycles through using the Tool Bar. But now I can't find it. Does anyone know what thread I am referring to, or how to edit the files to change the 3 levels of zoom? Thanks for your help.
