Game Play Crash Error Dialog: Runtime Error!

During gameplay (pretty continuously) rarely go one complete set of turns before the game crashes out.
i) either between turns/ending turns
ii) or when confirming attacks
iii) when AI attacks -the game crashes out.
First I get the following dialog:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library'
'Runtime Error!'
Program: C:\Games\Panzer Corps\Panzer Corps\Panzer Corps.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Windows then offers to terminate the program -which it does, then the game shell exits.
I'm left with the game launcher. Load game ...play on.
Any help you can offer would be appreciated
I'm having to save the game virtually every turn because if it crashes out after I've been granted a hero ..well you can imagine!

Welcome.
Could you please attach a DxDiag report file to your post?
How to get a DxDiag file:
1. click on "START" or "Windows key+R"
2. click "run"
3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice
6. open the text file, copy the contents, and post along with your issue.

Probably your issue is caused by a installed video/audio codec pack. I see that ffdshow was installed.
Please open he folder where you've installed your game and rename "audio" to "_audio".
This will force the game to start without any sound. Let's see if you still have crashes.

Hi,
Yup renaming folder 'Audio' to '_Audio' certainly stopped the crashes! I rattled of a bunch of turns and the game played fine.
So, what can we do to identify the faulting codec?
I guess I could pull any packs I've installed, that could be a chore though.
Incidentally, I use the app 'Media Player Classic' usually for audio/video. I haven't had any problems and I've used it for years.
Sometimes watching videos or other media I see a codec applet in my system tray that's obviously doing something -it gives me options on right click.
When I play Panzer Corp either Windows or Panzer Corp loads a codec applet to my system tray in the same way.
When I play the game and it crashes -after the game closes I see several of these little applet icons -duplicated. When I mouse over them they disappear.
So I suspect you are correct that its a codec compatibility problem.
What do you suggest?
Simon

Well, it's not necessarily a compatibility issue... The problem is that some of these codec packs broke Windows MCI, which is the API the game used for playing audio.
Which codec pack have you installed? K-Lite?
