remove formation research completely and leave it to the player

instead of jumping through hoops of researching mg>storm>siege>light etc
just give the player a base template starter of the 4k inf 1k mg and let you build from there.
have it all be custom and reflect it in the bp price of change and how many custome templates u can have on admin level.
i feel its to high of a price to unlock some exta rpg or buggys for a template costing 900cbp
usually getting motorized or tanks is wasted effort for cbp when u can just get it via 500 bp normally.
the ui is awful and the sidestepping of things makes it sort of pointless.

I think its good the way it is. Should be difficult to customize anything as getting troops to coordinate in real life has taken centuries of theory and training.

I recall Vic recently mentioned there were no plans to change this. Nonetheless, though somewhat alleviated by the implementation of adding model types via customization, it has been one of the weakest systems in the game for a long time.

Tank-only formations and MGs/RPGs/Grenadiers along with their Heavy, Motorized and Mechanized versions are the only unlockable OHQ formations that are really useful within the game mechanics, so the rest is just pointless fodder that you have to grind through to get to the few actually useful OOBs. Quite a few model types are totally missing from the unlockable OOBs as well, and it would be much better to have proper customization rather than having to awkwardly shove them into existing templates.

You could probably enable them all if you mod SE_Data 172 Flex OOB Types(maybe 174 is the one that says if they are known or not, but 172 has the requirements). Or the ones required for quicker customization. Maybe vic could add formations to the game that people use more often so the ai can use them.
