I know I can do the math, by adding up the weight values of all models included inside the unit; but is there somewhere I can see it easier?

During Design you can see the total weight when hovering over a selection. It even includes the item you are hovering over.

Otherwise you can see it in the design log. Note that it is a running number with one entry for each new item that adds weight.

but that is when I design. my question is more related to air bridges; I want to know if a unit already in the field, is light enough to be airlifted

If you go into strategic move mode, the currently selected unit's weight (including ammo and other supplies) is listed on top of the right side of the bottom bar, near the currently active order mode.
