Played a few games with 1.26f2 and really i must say im quite enjoying the game.

In one game i ran into the swarm hive thingie that kept leveling up. Dear god. That was FUN. We need more of this type of thing. Its literally game changing.

Now i just have 2 minor complaints left, they are quite minor, barely even issues really, but i thought id just share them anyway:

1.) The AI is still somewhat too undecisive when it comes to actually conquering the minor towns. Often times they end up occupying the entire minor state territory and then struggle with the town for dozens of turns.I cant tell whether this is an issue with troop allocation for town battle or AI being too hesitant to actually attack the town itself but if you could check/tweak that it would be a major improvement to AI perfomance. They need to put higher priority on actually capturing the town more than occupying the territory.

2.) Turn processing speed. This is WAY better than it used to be but it still kinda, sorta, sometimes take a bit too long. If there is any development time that can be put into optimizing the game a bit more it would be amazing. But again i wanna stress out its not really an issue this is like the last thing i can think of.

2.5.) I wish there was a way for me to tell my troops not to capture minor regime's territory when they move next to their border. A sort of option we can tick somewhere in the state institutions or something.

Cool stuff I'd like to see in SE (not necessarily exhaustive):
  • An "independent logistics battalion/regiment/division" composed purely of trucks, which carries and provides supplies to the OHQ formation it is attached to, allowing a unit to fight beyond supply lines for an extended period of time. Would better enable expeditionary forces and breakthrough+exploitation tactics.
  • The ability to take the veteran crews of light tanks and put them to work on medium/heavy/superheavy tank models. To quote cranky corvid from the Discord server: "Panzer I's, which didn't even have a main gun, played a vital part in training Nazi Germany's tank force in the pre-war years, and pilots usually start in light trainer aircraft before trading up to heavier and more capable ones later." As the game progresses and heavier tank models become increasingly necessary, it would be nice to make use of my old veteran light tank crews.
  • The ability to capture enemy equipment and put it to use for your own forces.
  • Being able to donate factory-produced gear to the militia. The militia come with better veterancy than regular army troops, but that is unfortunately badly undercut by the fact that they always have poor quality gear. This could be the basis of rivalry between the militia and the regular army, and leaders who favour one or the other - pro-Militia leaders might issue demands that the player donate high quality kit to the militia. The favour or wrath of certain leaders could be incurred by decisions as to whether the militia or the regular army gets first pick of the factory produced gear.
  • Alien lifeforms as draft animals! Right now, alien life forms are kinda cool...but unfortunately they don't exist as anything other than a dragon to be slain. The Wehrmacht infamously invaded the USSR with an army mostly drawn by horses. Being able to tame alien dinosaurs and put them to work dragging my artillery and ammo carts would be awesome.
  • Being able to relocate your council to a different city, so players can continue the fight even if they lose their capital. It's a bit unfortunate that I can't relocate my council members even when the enemy is at the gates.

Is there a way to get the patch from Vic's website? This link is dead - still nothing but a 404 error.

Ha! YES! I got it, but I had to backtrack the directory path in the download link and get it manually from Vic's site.

Are you getting a "404 error" trying to download 1.26g??

Took me a second to figure out, but to elaborate, what solops did was delete the file name from the URL leaving only:
https://www.vrdesigns.net/openbeta/

From that page, you get a list of recent beta releases including the latest 'g'.
(the problem is that the file is missing the 'v' in ...v1.26g..., but the URL has the 'v'.)

Thanks, solops for figuring it out!

The "Improvised IP" strategem looks very interesting. Commerce was already a good choice for Tech 3 starts because of its tendency to build Light Industry quickly, and this will make it more so.

I like it! It looks like a step towards resolving T3 the early game tedium I talked about. Thanks, Vic.

I can confirm that in 1.26g the AI will make effective use of ICBMs. They struck all my population centers, multiple times. There's nothing left - no industry, no people. My capital city has a rad level of over 3600.

Yes! I was playing the f2 patch before g came out and was soooo excited to get the poo nuked out of me by an AI. I declared war on an enemy major that I knew had nukes. Turn one I hit all of his border troops hard with armor, but avoided using nukes, curious to see what the AI would do. Well, he immediately initiated a first strike, hitting 7 of my cities. Only the previous deployment of 4 to 10 max strength city shields in each city saved me from a serious blow. Even so, serious damage was suffered and rad levels raised. I was elated! Finally! The AI did not just strike back, it initiated nuclear war. Huzzah! Go Skynet!

P.S. later that day my SSD crashed, losing the game and my saves. Connection?

-AI BP generation bonus reduced on Regular and higher levels, because the AI has become a little bit more clever in which research to prioritize recently. New BP gen bonus: -33% on beginner, +10% on regular, +50% on hard, +120% on extreme *
Oh so that's why I am fighting using my cheap-tanks and guerilla tactics vs laser iron horde.. Wait, and they have 4x Cloning Facility (2M people in enemy capitol ^^")
