This versus Commander The Great War

Post by COOLCORN »

Hello! I own CTGW and love it, and I also have SC:WW2:Global war and love it. I'm curious if anyone can speak to the differences in play between CTGW and SC:WW1? Thanks!

this is basically Commander the Great War on steroids. Commander does have some nice features, like the manpower mechanic in addition to morale, and emphasizes poison gas a tad more. but it has some severe weaknesses (airforce spam early game to reduce efficiency, Germany gets large manpower reserves from convoys for some ridiculous reason, AI doesn't react to Italian entry very well, etc.)

this game just has a lot more level of detail/scope to it, especially with all the events and the tech aspects. plus you can set allies to AI in this game which is nice.

but it is pretty nice to have both. Commander is good precursor to this, but this is definitely worth the upgrade.

Yeah, I really enjoyed C:TGW but this is actually better. The airforce spam and the cheesy use of armoured cars in MP in C:TGW eventually got to me. It was basically possible to run a blitzkrieg strategy in C:TGW which didn't seem right to me.

This gets it about right but there are some things that still need balancing, and having the AI play other countries makes it more fun and increases the difficulty.
