Sub Naval Cruise in Silent Mode

Is this supposed to be allowed? If I click Silent Mode I can still click Naval Cruise. You can try it yourself, if your sub is in Silent Mode, just set it to Hunter mode. Then Click back to Silent Mode. The Naval Cruise option will still be available, allowing you to "Silent Naval Cruise" (double Silent Mode's normal move distance). The sub arrives in Silent Mode.

I can't seem to replicate this in my game. Does the sub have to begin the turn in Silent Mode for this to work?

I don't believe there's any special requirement. Just load the 1939 scenario and click on a german sub. Make sure you're in Hunter mode. If you're not, switch to it. Then click silent mode, don't unclick the sub. You should still have the blue Naval Cruise icon available. It lets me cruise up to 22 hexes while in silent mode, wheras a normal naval cruise in Hunter mode is up to 32 hexes.
Conversely if I am in Silent mode and do not see Naval Cruise as an option (go to Silent Mode then unclick the sub then click on it again) then when I click on Hunter mode, the Naval Cruise option does not activate. I have to unclick the sub and then it appears as a blue clickable button.
I think this is a bug.

It is a bug, but with the latest patch (WaW 1.20.00) I can only reproduce the incorrect informational display of Action Points 22/16: on the map, however, the affected sub can really only travel the correct normal Silent Mode of 11 hexes. Were you on 1.19.00 when this occurred? With 1.20.00, the error is seemingly merely display-related.

I noticed it on the last day of 1.19, but it's the same behavior now in 1.20.
I can Silent-Cruise up to 22 hexes.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that subs no longer consume supply points when defending. At least until 1.20.00, subs when on Hunt Mode did not consume supply when Naval Cruising. I did some testing: this latter likewise applied to any naval unit who was modded to not consume supply on defence.
Of course, Naval Cruise for subs on Silent Mode may just be a bug independent from the above.

Thanks for reporting this, we think this bug may have been around since the beginning, but regardless, we are working on fixing it.

Given this has been around for years, is this really a bug? It could be a feature.
Might be totally unbalanced, or maybe cool in SC:WAW but broken in SC:WW1?
