getting the book

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

getting the book

Post by pcpilot »

I ordered the download version of the game and have been enjoying it since. I was wondering if there is a way to order the book and physical copy without paying the whole price for download too. Thanks for your time.

I had the same query a month ago. I sent a ticket to Matrix and they provided me with a link to the appropriate page to order manual only. On mobile at moment so can't copy in, will search for it as soon as I can

Is there a way to do this that doesn't involve paying £30 for international postage...?

I'd thought about it until I saw the full cost of getting it

Box Upgrade (i.e. the Manual) £12.99

Shipping £30.14 !!

Total £43.13 [X(]

Which is more than I paid for the game itself at £33.99

There's a big topic about this in the forums. There is no alternative.

There is one. A few years ago I made what at the time seemed a wildly extravagant decision to get a 10" tablet to act as an ereader for pdf game manuals. This was prompted by the ever increasing cost and hassle of printing, the need for a decent sized page to view and the saving in storage space for the A4 binders I used to keep. That's proved very successfull, although I did wonder when Matrix started to produce the larger sized booklets but not when I saw this latest astronomic increase in delivery costs.

Everyone seems to be keen on getting the printed game manual. Maybe it is a stupid question, but - if I download the game, is there an e-version of the manual included, or do I have to buy it seperately?[&:][:(]

The manual as a pdf file is included with the installation so you will get that with the basic download purchase. If you upgrade the purchase to the boxed version you get the manual in booklet form as well as in the download.

There is the manual in pdf format, yes.
No real need for the book, but some want to have the physical copy in their hands, etc.

Its all down to personal choice of course, but from my perspective, quality hard copy manuals a la MWIF, DC:B, Strategic Command and WITW should be offered with every game. For those of us who a) hate reading from a screen and/or b) have frequent intimate relations with our books, they are a superb idea. The only game I have bought recently that didn't have such books was Wars of Napoleon - and I really missed not having one for that.
