I would like to see a report that shows; Historical Date, Game Date. Then you could see how well you are doing compared to history.

Yes, a historical timeline is a nice idea - and Hubert has also mentioned this

Would fit great as a "Note" or "History" button under an in-game message like "Poland surrendered"
